I feel like you're being too hard on her. That reads like a girl who is seeking closure but can't be concise about it. You should have been straight up from the outset rather than give a subtle clue you're not interested.

I hear you, and maybe I'm not as nice and respectful as I thought, because I absolutely didn't feel it was necessary to do or say anything further. For me, if someone cancels on a date, and never reaches out after that, I'll get the point*

Yes, when you like someone you make excuses for them. Maybe he really is busy, maybe something happened in his life etc. etc.. We've all been there.

Our logic says he's not interested, our friends will tell us the truth...yet we still hope that maybe there's a chance. Very normal to me. Of course me personally wouldn't be writing walls of text because I'm too proud but I would be hoping some kind of miracle. It's crazy.

I think discussing how nice and/or respectful it was is just semantics. At the end of the day NC is only acceptable to the one who initiates it while the other will always feel some minor pang of hurt from it or at least wonder "why?"

Haven't you ever wondered why a girl went NC on you, and she probably thought it was reasonable? Every time I go NC I rationalise it as the best way to proceed and a few days to a week later I get "that" text asking what she did wrong or why I haven't been in touch. So now I let her do NC. My ex was in touch with me every week, then she went dark so I called her out of worry, she seemed fine on the other end, even giggled at me calling her. A few days later I asked her if she could start sending messages to me in Polish to help my development, that was two weeks ago and no response.

She wanted to get back together, I refused, we stayed friends, but it doesn't seem to have worked out for her. I should be glad she's moving on yes? Still feel kinda bad about her going NC. That's life so assume they will always feel bad until they get some kind of closure whether it's a new partner or the old love interest saying no.

Well if she wanted to blow my phone up, she could have done it a week after, and she would have gotten the closure a lot sooner than an entire month out of the blue
