Its not OP's responsibility to take care of this dumbasses family. His wife will find someone else within about 6 months to a year anyways.

Tell him to go SNY fast or expect to get stuck playing the prison politics and probably get more time added.

pray that he doesn't get his teeth knocked out. If they are, he's a prime candidate for being forced to give oral.

Actually most drug dealers won't sell to kids but a doctor trying to get a kick back will give an 8 year old amphetamines to take every single day...

You guys seem to think prison rape is really common; actually doesn't happen all that often, at least not where I work. Maybe 2 or 3 times in the ~3 years I have worked there.
Yes, that is just the reported ones, but still, not that common.

If you want to remain friends then do it but realize it's probably going to take a lot of effort from your side without much reward other than sentimental rewards of knowing you had a friend's back. Don't try to be a father to those kids if you have your own family and struggles, it will probably not be for the best.
In my book the green lettuce is definitely a non issue. Hallucinogens can also have very positive effects on people's lives without a lot of downside. Obviously the individual taking substances should research what they're putting inside their body and there are definitely cases where it can lead to negative results.
Stuff like the needle and some of the other hard stuff is definitely no good though. The point is you're making a blanket statement.

The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Bottom line is the answer to substance abuse issues is education and caretaking, not more government in everyone's business. Sending a guy like OP's friend to jail doesn't prevent the next guy from selling rocks, it just puts another person in the justice system and makes his family more dependent on the gov't, all of which ends up taxing my wallet even further. There are real solutions to these problems instead of kicking the can down the road like we've been doing for the last half century.

You are missing my point, laws are supposed to apply to everyone so if a government is peddling drugs to CHILDREN how can it punish people for selling drugs to adults. Knowing something and doing nothing about it and then vilifying someone for doing the same thing because it isn't pushed by the government...cool bro

I haven't been in prison, but I was in bootcamp for about 2 months. Obviously it isn't the same, but I remember getting mail on Sunday being the highlight of my week. Being separated from everyone you know is tough. My advice would be to write as often as you can. It will probably mean a lot to him.
