I agree op gym culture is whack not to mention it's hard to be the buffest guy in the gym, but pretty easy to be the buffest guy at the dog park or on a bar pool table on a Tuesday night.

Nah man a lot of people still wear sleeveless shirts and wife beaters and hang out in groups with their proton shakes and ****. A lot of people still hog the machines and flex and act douchey in the gym mirrors. I go at 430 am so i don't have to see this cringe.

Had a great deal a year ago when I moved to a new city where a one years membership was $10 a month at a big commercial gym. It seemed like everyone was more into looking cool with their gymshark gear, taking selfies and talking rather than lifting. Which wouldn't bother me, since most ppl were chill but never could get done what I intended to do on a busy night. Bought everything I needed for a home gym last Black Friday, no regrets.

I used to cringe at new fitness fads and the social media aspect. A friend of mine who has fibromyalgia and was morbidly obese used fitness to turn her life around (and vastly improved her well being) over the course of the last year, and honestly i just respect people bettering themselves now, even if they're excited about it and a little cringy at first
