Going to college without intention of applying for masters programs, medical, dental, or law school afterwards is cope these days. BS (bullshyt) degrees are a dime a dozen now, but you give yourself an edge not being part of the entitled majority who expects a well paying job right out of undergrad. The exception to the rule being if you have inside connections to land a 6 figure job with no experience with a bachelors.

Any of the "arts" can be learned at home by reading books, and in the process you can save yourself the Marxist indoctrination; much of STEM can also be acquired through self-study (mathematics and computer science being two examples) with the advent of the Internet, this has become truer than ever before. Colleges / Universities have, for the most part, transformed into extraordinary expensive indoctrination camps where ahugemajority of students dropout the first year, and or waste their time living out a sort of booze + partying ideology. If I was a CEO in 2017, I would hire employees simply based off IQ tests. Nothing else.

STEM still depends on which one. As an EE , we started in a class of 100+ and there were 6 in my graduating class. I did graduate after fall semester. But still that's pretty bad success rate.
I had a job a month before I graduated.

I've jumped in after avoiding stats during my undergrad and work so far. Data science and related fields is the way to go for opportunities in a growth area imo. So many other areas and industries are in an mature "do it faster/cheaper" stage and working in those is pretty chit. Even aerospace is bad (the industry I'm leaving), the US had a mach 3 nuclear bomber in 1959 and what are we doing now?

True the knowledge is out there and it is available for free. Good luck getting a job by listing your self studies as valid credentials on your cv though

LOL @ rustled MISCers. What he's saying is mostly true.

He's not 100% correct though, TEM are the best fields to go into to make money. Science, eh, they're the new arts grads. WTF you gonna do with a physics or chem degree?

Also, he's wrong about accounting, they employ millions of workers/slaves. The money is chit, the hours are chit, but its pizz easy to get a job, and it gets much better as you move on. He's right that its the only business degree worth having. Finance is over-saturated with people trying to be gordon gecko, and I'd argue you'd stand a better chance with a math degree. Econs is just a fad, is already dying off. You've screwed the pooch if you're studying econs now.

I also know plenty unemployed engineers, IT people and accountants though, all these fields are rapidly degenerating from automation and offshoring. (Australia)

He doesn't know much about trades, but many will die off soon (mechanics), or the injuries you sustain will cost more than what you've earned your entire career (brickies, welders), and some have a 40 y/o maximum cap before your body can't hack it (carpenters, contruction) He's right about plumbers and electricians though.

The true GOAT field is health sciences. Other than chit fields like chiro, nutrition, pharmacy, naturopath, all others are fukkin in demand, both locally and overseas. Nurse is a bit chit to get a job, but if you're in and can specialise, you earn GOAT money. Physio, radiographer, sonorgrapher and all that earn mad money, and there is near 0 chance of automation.

Lol at college in general you mean?
You can learn anything online ffs. You go to college to network.

Also there are other factors way more important than education when it comes to being successful, such as motivation. My friends who failed to graduate are business owners making good money. I studied and graduated from a top uni, but I do **** all because I have 0 motivation.

I know several kids who graduated in UK from Cambridge, Warwick, UCL and LSE and they all have **** tier jobs. Meanwhile a couple of *******s who didn't bother going abroad to study, they joined a ****ty private Albanian college, basically they paid for a piece of paper, they have opened a couple of businesses together. They run a restaurant, a gym and a car rental company. They are rich kids who met at a ****ty private uni, became friends and now they are 1000x times more successful than any of me and the other fellas who graduated from top 10 unis in the UK.

So much for education. Us who studied in the UK are all STEM graduates.

are you and your friends NEETs though? Or do you all work normal jobs, that you're not happy with the pay?

I find that those that go to the top schools are always dissatisfied with their wages. Know a guy who earns 50% above industry, but is deeply upset the CEO is earning more than him, lol.

lmao my pharm degree makes way me more than any of those other people easily with 40 hrs a week. strong lack of knowledge. chiro and ND is total garbage and not healthcare. RD is fine and needed. tech degrees like xray/sonography are stupidly easy and need like 6 month program certs or AA. i'll also never be automated because pharmacy is the most litigious field in healthcare.

Oh god it’s you again. Still haven’t accepted how mindless the pharmacy profession is? To hell with needing AI for replacing your jobs - trained monkeys would do just fine.

come to me when trained monkeys are legally licensed to dispense medications. Sounds like someone is mad I make a great salary doing something I enjoy while helping people live.
you advoate for sonography and xray techs who are easily trained and stupidly replaceable, yet I know more than physicians about medications and enter a joint agreement sharing liability with a practitioner upon dispensing medication. you obviously have no idea what happens in healthcare.

Average wage was like 3-4k$ out of school. Two guys who worked as analysts( Statistics graduates) quit their jobs, they hated them. I don't know about the rest, haven't talked to them. They are not making bank that's for sure as I would have heard from the jealous fuks around here.

From what I have noticed, Law graduates do very well after college.

1. LOL @ normies with ONLY 1 degree. In this day and age, even a lowly beta Timothy has a Master's degree. If you go to college without any intention attending a graduate school, might as well LDAR.

Yeah, BSc in Econs, MSc in Finance, passed CFA Level III, come at me bruhs.

2. LOL. It's not so much about the major but your school. If you think otherwise you're delusional. I've seen so many kids with a History degree from Harvard getting offers on Wall Street, while people who majored in Finance was rejected left and right cuz he/she went to "non-target" schools.

But yes, if you attend a no name school, then might as well study STEM because an arts degree from there = worthless.

pharmacist and physician (depending on the state) are the only professions legally allowed to dispense medications - and its mostly pharms because of the conflict of interest.

pharm is already fukking gone in Australia, because machines can fill prescriptions better and faster than pharmacists can, and from all the schools pumping out boatloads of them. By gone, I mean they're on minimum wage, part-time. Things might be different in US, but from what I heard from mates, its heading that way throughout the world.

pharmacist and physician (depending on the state) are the only professions legally allowed to dispense medications - and its mostly pharms because of the conflict of interest.

the difference is every rx has to legally be checked by a pharmacist - and the pills have always been counted by a tech. I work in clinical pharm and round with a physician team to optimize medication regimens. I agree the job has become **** for retail and they are putting out too may new grads, but there will always be a place for pharms and there is a big push for provider status for increased medicare billing for services that will increase our value to institutions.
