If you're talking about that statement, than the marketing attempt is working.

This really. I have been waiting to black panther forever, regardless of who said what. but the real issue is how influential actors and artists can be. why the hell are they even taken seriously when speaking outside cinematography??

Yep still a lot of economic, social, and educational inequality in Africa. Just because you dismantle part of what enabled white supremacy there doesn't mean problems magically goes away nor apartheid's effects. Also I am not encouraging the violence by any means. South Africa has a long ways to go.

That makes me want to turn this topic elsewhere, so bad, because I know no one on the misc will agree with the truth about the US now.

Yep and I doubt any white person will touch my comment about white intervention in Africa outside of slavery either.

Hitler is seen as extremely evil in Western History but no one hardly talks about King Leopold II killing millions of Africans, more than Hitler killed Jews.

I think Africa is way too complex in history to be explained away in even a full scale research paper as to why they have dragged their feet. It’s not simply “they had all these time they just didn’t feel like it!”

And anyone who even remotely tries to deny that European colonization didn’t completely fracture and send Africa into a spiral of chaos is just ignorant. That’s just how history happened, don’t be pissed off at The truth.
I admit all my threads suck :(

Dung huts are far more eco-friendly than stuff modern man builds though. Doesn't send you into eternal slavery to the banks either. And doesn't tie you to the same place forever as well. If you get bored of your steppe, you can just leave your dung hut and build another one for free in another place. Not saying it's perfect but much of the non-Western world is pretty chit and that includes Euro and Africans alike.

European interference in Africa didn't start and stop with the slave trade. There was resources being taken away from the regions, bribery, civil wars created due to greed which was conspired by Euros, genocide (i.e. Belgium's King Leopold), and not to mention destruction of history, monuments, and stealing culture (i.e. look at parallels of Egyptian Religions and Greek/Roman Religions).
Im not saying there arent smart africans or successful ones because thatd be an asinine assumption but im saying in general they havent really built a functioning society at really any point in recorded history, even in areas with minimal european interference. Most areas of africa never advanced past mud huts.

Never actually heard of king leopold but thats extremely fukked up.

judging by the comments here and on twitter, many people are more likely to believe in existence of some nordic gods (Thor, Loki) and true AI (Ultron) than in some high-developed hi-tech african country

It raises a genuinely good point though and I wonder what the actual reason behind it is.

If you think about how much money 1st/2nd world countries have given to Africa, every year and for so long - how come they still arent technologically advanced? Where is it all going?

I read somewhere online that in 2014, 145 Billion Dollars was given to Africa in aid, so it must be TRILLIONS - hundreds of trillions over the years.

How havent they developed a more sustainable living with food/water and education? I dont really get it.

Surely they could have some kind of water pipes that turn sea water into drinking water and then plumb that into all the villages/countries around the continent? Or why havent they made internet more accessible, so that they can start earning money from 1st/2nd world countries, which would be considerably higher than earning in their local currency - and then importing things?

If you think about it the Romans, Mayans, Vikings, Egyptians were all considerably better off and that was like 2000 years ago.

I am not even going to touch this delusion in much detail, lol. You can see exactly where many groups would be if you know where to look. Go to the Australian inland if you want to see where their natives would still be. This has nothing to do with disrespect or looking down upon any group, it's just objectively how it is. People can't even be objective with one side getting all sensitive and start throwing out labels as a primitive defense, so naturally these topics always end up the same.

People have too much time on their hands, too much redundant politics in all forms on entertainment. You can't have any honest discussion on these topics because people will just misread anything you say. Better to just nod and go about your day. I have to avoid half the movies coming out because of politics, avoid watching any free-to-air TV either. We are living in a time that's peaking with tolerance, in fact it's even go too far in some cases, a time with the most sympathy and aid yet sadly we are in the time of the most whinging and complaining.

I definitely want to watch this movie. It'll be a comic book movie with a culture we haven't really seen before so should be cool. I just wish they could just shut up about race. Fukk.

By the way, if you want to watch one of the best comic book films ever made, go watch Blade and Blade 2. It has a black super hero and not one racial issue was made about it.

Agreed. Blade was amazing and back then nobody gave a fukk about this chit. Its only become a thing in the past few years because the media made it into one.
