yeah at 16 my rate in CA driving a 99 acura was about 2100 a year.... had a job so that helped but man insurance just absolutely shafts young drivers, hopefully he doesnt get into any accident. I didnt know this until recently but in CA if youre at fault and the person claims injury due to the accident it could be 2 points instead of 1, so fuking stupid because people are usually faking those injuries. Not sure if this applies in your state but something to look into

Make sure he's got good grades and there'll be a discount for that
I got a 3.8-3.9 GPA atm and my parents got a discount on the insurance
Also tell him to park as far away as possible in HS parking lots. Nobody knows how to drive srs. Keep him accident free

Welp, we went out driving just now. Have only been a passenger with him driving in parking lots, today was on the roads. Was a little nervous at first but he did great! We went and got pizza. lol

interesting. My parents didn't add me to their insurance until I got my license. They kept me off while I had my permit. Funniest part was the moron at my parent's insurance called one day when I was 16 asking to speak to my parents, then asked "So how old are you? Are you driving now?" I said yes and she replies "K den I'll add you to your parent's policy"
Stupid me for thinking it was just small talk. Stupid her for being stupid and conniving like that.

When I bought my first car I went with Liberty Mutual. Got into a crash in my first year but it wasn't by fault, dude wasn't paying attention and hit the back of my car. Next year the annual premium goes up, instead of down since I had my license for an year longer and didn't have any accidents that was my fault. Was pissed and did a quote with Geico, those fookers literally saved me 50-60% a month instead of the 15% they claim in the commercials. Every 6 months - 1 year my premium slowly kept decreasing as well. Never leaving Geico srs.
