Mood.

Personally, I wouldn't have stepped up to throw a party for someone. It's a lot of money and responsibility and I know you wanna make it memorable but you're not gonna be nearly as appreciated as you think you'll be, and if you try to steal the spotlight, it's actually gonna make you look cringey. You can get all the colorful light bulbs you want, all the balloons, all the alcohol, but most important thing is people. Focus on that, focus on what they can bring, and make them work for you, or you'll be running around like a headless chicken trying to make this good.

I see what you mean. I'm not paying for everything though, and people are bringing stuff as well, so it's not all on me. But I'll just stay in the lowlight and make sure everyone is having a good time. They'll still know it's her birthday of course lol

This is just my opinion too, but regardless of how great a party was, if the house is a mess, I'm gonna be upset. Last thing I want is to host a party and have to be the one to clean up after everyone. Put yourself in your friend's shoes, it's her house. Make sure there are plenty of places for people to dispose of their food/beverages and upkeep the cleanliness. Party hard, but leave the place spotless after. Make sure the sink is empty. Get garbage bags, giant bins, lysol wipes, rubber gloves, paper towels. Regularly dispose of the garbage so it doesn't pile up and stink. She'll appreciate it, and when people see that you're manning up and keeping the place clean, they'll either want to help you out, think more highly of you, or try to leave less of a mess themselves.

how do you have this issue? usually its people trying to prevent a party from going out of hand
1. you don't need food, people usually order/pitch for food when there. you can buy a bunch of frozen pizzas and just toss them in the oven if you really wanted too.
2. loud music, make sure there are good speakers available
3. beer pong tables
4. lots of plastic cups for beerpong and other drinking games
5. invite lots of people

More solid advice, that's definitely a given. I'll be constantly cleaning up, and will probably stay behind for a little bit when everyone leaves to help her clean up.

It's on the guests to make it a good party or not. My friend used to throw the most legendary parties twice a year, and he supplied very little of the alcohol, and usually no food. All he had was a house that he didn't mind getting dirty.

Don't try to play games and chit. People just want to talk. Make sure there are multiple separate areas for people to mingle, including an outdoor area for smokers.

Don't play the music loud enough to impede conversation or make any sort of thing about the music. It's just background.

idk what parties youve gone to, but food like pizza makes partying more inconvenient. The best parties ive been to were 0 food, just alcohol and water, dimly light room with everyone jumping up and down in the middle.

why are u throwing/planning her a party? has she done the same for u in the past? would she do it for u if its ur birthday?
ne ways..

liquor - make sure u have a variety. henny and jmo are the go to options. get some absolut or goose for the chickas. someone mentioned jello shots, which is a good idea as well

beer - get a keg and a couple 30 racks. maybe get a few 6packs of craft beer jus for the close friends

games - have a couple different options set up. cards for humanity is good, but that is usually good for only a medium sized group/kickback. have a table or 2 for beerpong and one for rage cage or flipcup. this lets everyone have options so they aint jus standing around like dumasses/feeling left out

food - wtf at party tray, jus get chips and microwave food or pizza
if ur srs about party tray, delegate that to one of her homegirls. if shes the type that only has guy friends just lmao, ur party will end up being a sausagefest

music - you be the judge, but usually some chill, laidback music when the party is jus getting started. deep house is usually chill af. you can never go wrong throwing in some classic hiphop or rap in between

ppl - most important thing is to make sure ppl show up. gl having a party with 4 ppl. also ur party will b complete chit if its all dudes or all girls. keep it at an acceptable ratio. make sure ppl dun get too fkd up/u dun invite ppl that get too rowdy or u will most likely be helping clean chit up since ur the one planning the whole thing

too lazy to post more, but if u follow all the above itll be a good bday party
