I just think you can get easily lost

I guess with depression its prob a longer history which makes it even harder. But as to the malleableness of the brain. Spend 2 weeks in your house doing nothing and see what happens

When you get out youll likely be a bit anxious/ depressed whatever. But for somebody whom has a large accumulation of memories that comprise the majority of their memories. I can MAYBE see how it would be harder to overcome. Its not insurmountable, itll just take longer/ harder work to keep yourself going back to that behavior

I would say that they may just be completely alone. But i think you can be completely alone even if youre surrounded by people. For instance, being in a group but struggling with the loss of a loved one

Perfectly plausible someone could be totally normal surface wise, and doing the correct things, but is suffering

Ive gotten lost, and then thoughts are weird.. And only until ive gotten completely back have i realized how stupid most of it was. You can easily misattribute and misinterpret actions based on YOUR thoughts. Which is what i think happens. Its a complete inadequate issue

It's true and false imo, if you're mind is ****ed up beyond repair you're gonna suicide anyways. Regardless if you trust in yourself and try to be positive.

It can be for a bunch of different reasons

Some person could kill themselves because of a petty break up with a boy/girlfriend

Whereas another person could do it because they simply don't like the nature of what they perceive to be reality

My problem is where people call it a "mental health" problem, I'd disagree with that, I don't believe that all people who suicide or are suicidal are mentally ill

It could be the case that someone has a better understanding of "things" than you do, and has simply came to the conclusion that death is a better than their life... or they literally think that death is better than any life

So there's a very wide range of reasoning's why people may kill themselves, ranging from "stupid reasons", to reasons that go above the heads of most

But that's the thing. Sometimes depressed/suicidal people can't even do anything about it. Their brain, has lead them down to pain and suffering, where no amount of "help" will alleviate their struggles in the near future. People always say talking helps the depressed and suicidal, but honestly, I don't see how it helps much for those with legitimately fuked up circumstances. Opening up can help some depressed people and young highschoolers and college students, but it's not like talking is some miraculous medicine.

The simple truth about life is that it sucks. There are basically two kinds of depression, the kind where your circumstances really aren't that bad, but your brain is improperly processing what your mood and response should be, and the other kind, where your circumstances really suck ass and you want to end the suffering. I would argue that most people are in the latter camp. Life really does suck for most people. Many people work dead end, meaningless jobs, live near poverty, barely get any sex, and don't form meaningful connections with other people. For these people, death is often viewed as a blessing. Suicide becomes a solution rather than a problem. This is the reality of the world we live in. It's a competition, and the losers understandably don't want to play anymore. Even people who seem successful, but who have failed to develop those meaningful connections generally end up depressed. All a man really needs to avoid depression is a loving and faithful wife, kids, a close friend circle, and a respectable and profitable career which gives him some decent status in society. When you take these things from a man, he starts getting depressed. All a woman needs to avoid depression is a loyal and caring husband, kids, a close friend circle, and to be treated and viewed with respect and admiration by others in society (this could come via a career or from other things).

I have a history of generalized anxiety and depression. It sucks. Feeling hopeless, worthless and like nothing will ever make you "normal" is the worst. So I totally get the feeling.

Therapy has helped me. I also feel better when I do "something" every day (like go out with friends, spend as much time outside of home as possible, etc...). Basically I force myself out of my comfort zone. But others aren't so lucky.

I know it is easier said than done, but when it really comes down to it, someone is only going to find ways to cope with depression/mental illness in general if they find a way to take the initiative themselves. A good support system definitely helps, but like anything else in life, you can't blame everyone but yourself for your choices.

Honestly, based on the details provided, the generalized example of a support system in the OP wasn't that bad. That one was fairly neutral to somewhat positive. At some point, a depressed person is going to have to work up the energy to at least attempt to bluntly explain their issues to their support system people instead of purely relying on them to pick up subtle cues. A lot of peoples' family/friends will actively discourage them from getting their chit together to get professional help and instead pressure them to "suck it up and get over it", so again, the OP example seemed overly whiney being that it wasn't that bad.

But yeah, I feel for clinically depressed people. I'm pretty sure I've been there myself at times in life. But to some extent, you need to grow a sack and find a means of coping through it, which includes seeking professional help if it comes to that. Can't just blame everyone else for it. Bear in mind, most non-professionals are going to be pretty limited in how well they can "help" beyond basic support, so blaming them is pretty nonsensical.

Ive never been suicidal. Ive been depressed but it comes in bursts of a couple weeks. But whenever I have a slight suicidal thought my brain subconsciously gives me a pep talk to tell me "im almost there". Then I go back to thinking how complete crap I am. Its weird.
I just need to stay busy and the thoughts go away, but whenever I have any free time, my mind races 100 miles a minute with just nothing but negative energy. It gives me this weird pain in my heart when it gets bad.

i think the greatest thing is that when you think you're truly alone in the way that you feel you realize there are thousands of people who are feeling the same things you are feeling. if you can get in contact with these people and just talk things out with them and get it off your chest, that can be a very positive thing

I've never been suicidal either... well I've never given intent serious thought. I've certain thought about the concept. I do remember in high school one teacher asking a class of 40 students to raise their hand if they've ever considered it. I think only one other person other than myself didn't raise their hand. The idea to me has always been creepy, sad, frightening, and grotesque. I've seen some pretty fked up stuff online and suicide has always ranked at the top of messed up for me.

Depression and frustration (the mental gymnasitcs of it all) has been driving me nuts lately though. I dropped a few truth bombs on my family not too long ago and only one member of it really showed signs of caring/support. In fact, i was really shocked at the level of "zero give a fuks" i mostly got. And that's either because they truly don't or they feel awkward and uncomfortable with me (which translates to a lack of courage on their part). So that definitely left me thinking, "Well fuk you then." A part of me thinks that their lack of response may actually indicate that they're worse off than I am.

Ive always loved your user name. Im pretty sure as a child i rented that game from bi-low or whatever supermarket in my small town growing up was trying to compete with blockbuster.

This is my probably my third user name with many thousands of posts. The others i formally requested that an admin delete the account. I intended to stay away from misc.. Honestly i come here for the jokes. People probably think im a crazy man looking at my phone laughing.

When my girlfriend overdosed 13 years ago I had a chance to save her. I was drunk. I would have had to drive an hour and a half to intervene and she had made probably 50 suicide threats over the course of our year long relationship. She was bipolar. She had cheated on me with my roommate. Many other bad things. I didnt fully understand what was happening that night. Forces at play i had only read about in religious texts.

When I think of my parents and brother trying to understand how I feel.. What a day in my shoes is like. I mean. The average person just cant comprehend you waking up screaming no or with a pillow soaked in tears. I wouldnt want them to know that feeling anyway man. Anyway dude ive been following your posts for years.. Before my join date. You are a good man and you make the world a better place. Pm me if you need me. And as far as suicide. I learned all i need to know on that. Nobody wins.

I have a friend that never lets me live down my "faxanadu" craze. Used to rent and play it every time i went to his house as a kid. I remember playing till like 3am one time while he was sleeping and yelling out, "Dude! I got the wing boots man!" I got the best half asleep cold response back ever... "I don't give a fuk about the wing boots!"

I don't think my parents and brothers lack the ability to understand how i feel. I think they just deep down don't want to hear it. Which would explain their half-ass attempt to sympathize. Kinda of fuked up really when you consider most peoples family/upbringing is the key to most of your beliefs/views/thoughts/habits.

Sometimes the mind travels places it was never really meant to go. You should feel happy for your blood that they dont understand (srs). Dont make them feel what you and I feel man. Theres a reason people like you and me gravitate towards liking dynamic superheroes like batman versus the goody two shoes ones.

I'm in a spot where i know what my problem/issues are. I know what i need to do. But i have zero support in breaking my bad habits and forming new ones. It is really hard to hold yourself accountable in maintaining the course solo... when everyone around is a rotter. I suffer because i expect more of myself... but i have nobody around me to support those expectations because they all seem to have checked out of life a long time ago. It's like trying to stay/get fit in a social circle of unhealthy blobs.

What i would give for someone to just slap the fuk out of me any time i lose focus.

I suffer because i expect more of myself... but i have nobody around me to support those expectations because they all seem to have checked out of life a long time ago. It's like trying to stay/get fit in a social circle of unhealthy blobs.

What i would give for someone to just slap the fuk out of me any time i lose focus.
Theyre irrelevant. Theres only you.. And the darkness.. And how youre going to deal with it. Gotta go sleep man goodnight

I have the same conundrum. Many people do in fact.

I've come to realise thatknowingwhat your problems/issues are is little more than the first step. The awareness is absolutely pivotal, as you can't fix something you're unaware of, but it's just the beginning - a chit ton of other things have to follow before you've solved your woes.

And the big problem with the following the steps is that a lot of them depend on environment/external factors to some extent, often significantly so. This is the real sticking point for most people.

I don't really have any advice as I'm still trying to figure this chit out for myself; just wanted you to know I know where you're coming from.
