I stopped cooking or eating thing with oils high in omega 6 fats (soybean/vegetable, corn, cottonseed, etc) and cook everythings in EVOO, coconut oil, avocado oil, butter, clarified butter. It reduced my seasonal allergies by 95%. I used to sneeze so hard and often my diaphragm got sore. Now I can mow the lawn, sneeze once or twice, and that's it.

my skin got better after I switched cow milk for hazelnut/cashew milk. In terms of how I felt didn't notice anything.

I dropped "snacks" in general - no more chips and dip while watching a movie after lunch on Sunday, etc. No more milka chocolates between meals, nothing. If I snack it's either some organic yogurt with some berries tossed in, or an apple, etc.

The change is significant in terms of body composition, and also for my recovery between workouts. I need as much 'real food' as I can get, so I cook (last night was fried whitefish with a side of potato gratin with roasted cauliflower), and an apple after that.

It seems to come to a point in lifting/training that if you're pushing really, really hard, you need all the real food you can get.

There are a variety of things in dairy that cause different people problems. Besides lactose (which can be mostly fermented out of many aged cheeses), A1 casein proteins can give peoples' immune systems a lot of grief. Some older breeds of cow don't produce any A1 casein proteins in their milk, like Jersey cows. There's a relatively new brand of milk called A2 that comes from cows that don't produce any A1. Goat's milk, which is actually more popular in the rest of the world, also has no A1 and even less lactose than cow milk.

All that is to say, you might try experimenting with goat milk or A2 milk or milk from certain breeds of cow if you miss the stuff in your coffee.

And I want to add that cold brew coffee and nut milk go together like peas and carrots. Definitely check it out.

Keep my sugars low as fuk, except for fruit.
If im cutting - then Carbs are low as fukk too and I avoid Whey protein (dat bloat)
Alcohol limited to 1 night a week - feel WAY better, no constant mild hangovers (used to drink almost every night .e.g. wine with dinner)
Always avoid Bread

What i've found HELPS to include
* I drink around 5-6 litre of water a day
* Vegetables with every single meal
* Protein at 1.5gram per lb of bodyweight
* Fat minimum of 70grams
* Aim for 60 minutes of activity a day, something to make me sweat (skin is much better that way)
* Multivits + flaxseed oil

Cut out oatmeal, used to eat it every morning without problems for years, but eventually developed some sort of intolerance. Massive bloating, foul smelling farts that just kept on coming, diarrhea, basically the whole lot of digestive issues. Cut out gluten and dairy first which didn't help. Noticed immediate improvement when I stopped eating oatmeal.

Also cut out whey protein, same story there although not as bad as the oatmeal.

Those that dropped dairy and grains - how is your diet looking now? What did you put in instead? I dropped dairy myself save for occasional slice of cheese here and there or cottage cheese but losing grains, mainly oats is a bitch. Oatmeal is such a staple and easy to prepare that I have a hard time picturing something else to eat instead.

And speaking of dairy, lactose-free is a fuking scam. I get bloated and fart like a motherfuker ever after consuming lactose-free chit.

Reps for suggestions.

I "dropped" the idea that there is a magic bullet, or "superior food/strategy" for health.

I consume what I want, when I want, but all in moderation. I workout religiously, always using heavy weight and compound movements. No alcohol, caffeine, drugs, ECT.

Moderation is king.

My brother became lactose intolerant as an adult. Prob in his mid to late 30's I think it was.

I've dropped bread and most processed carbs for the most part. I eat yams or brown rice/quinioa and veggies for my carbs now. It makes a huge different in how I feel. If I go on a kick for like a week where I'm eating that crap I feel sluggish and achy.

Regarding replacing dairy - oat milk and rice milk are the most tasty replacements in my opinion.

Instead of grains focus on complex carbs like Quinoa, Couscous, sweet potatoes, brown rice. Instead of oats I Like to eat sorghum/millet - don't know if that's available to you ameribrahs.

Can't say I've totally dropped anything (moderation), but I do notice that some things cause issues or some things improve.

- dairy: digestive stuff and breakouts...cheese/yogurt/butter seem fine, but milk/ice cream take a toll
- sugar: if I avoid it my skin looks better and if I eat too much my arthritis flares up
- wheat: not all grain, just wheat, I try to limit a bit because it seems to increase bloating and inflammation for me

Point of interest on wheat: the main wheat variety cultivated now has much more gluten than older varieties so some people may be fine with flour from the older varieties, but it can be a PITA to find and you would need to bake your own

When it comes to most allergic reactions vs. some genetic difference it seems like your body can redevelop some tolerance, which is to say that I've read of people cutting stuff out and then later adding back smaller amounts less often and not having a reaction like they did before.

I think it was an Asian person I knew at some point that said "try to eat 100 different foods a day". Don't believe that was literal...more that eating a wide variety of foods in small amounts leads to better health.

i'm vegan, so in actuality it's meat and dairy, but if i had to pick the one thats had the biggest impact, i'd say dairy

i think dairy is worse than meat for health (for me personally)

Alcohol

I used to cut this out before for a month or so when I was cutting and it would help.

I finally stopped drinking alcohol all together and I've lost 45 pounds. I feel f'n fantastic too. No more hangover or grogginess in the morning and now I don't have to plan everything before the evening when I know I would drink and wouldn't train. I save a ton of money now too since I drank the good stuff before. I was mostly a beer guy and some whiskey but mostly high gravity beer.

There are the usual suspects like sugar, heavy dairy, highly processed carbs & fats.

For me, after these, only one other thing had a big impact. Losing all artificial sweeteners. This after reading a book by Dr. Jason Fung. Can't remember specific studies, but he references a few in the book demonstrating that sweeteners effect insulin secretion similarly to regular sugar, even if not metabolized. Made a difference for me.

I always feel like **** because I'm probably depressed. So I probably don't notice a difference anyway.

However lots of people report awesome skin after removing milk from their diets.
