Yeah, probably.

We had war with China for thousands of years, drove away the Mongols 3x, then the French came, then the Japs came briefly during WW2, then ofc Americans. We've been barely in peace for 40 years.

Russians too, but they also have good genes. You can easily find ugly Viets but you'd be hard-pressed to find ugly Svetlanas and Natashas. Source: born in Russia.

I have been working with indian guys all year. At first i didnt much care for them but they are actually pretty cool when you figure them out. Dont know crap about their women. I meet all sorts of the guys though from the entry level low paid guys up to the robotics guys making 200k and they all seem decent.

"Beat up" lol. I'll just assume your friend was staring @ those thugs and/or was being a dick to 'em.

I'm not exactly a local but whenever I go visit there I have no problems. Don't get in their way and you'll be ok buddy.

Tourists/foreigners are treated decently, but be careful of your wallet/camera/phone etc. As big cities get more developed they attract more and more thugs/thieves/all sort of low-life scums, and foreigners are easy targets.
