Just that he doesn't have to bring his notebook to the studio.

It's more than anything a testament to his ability to flesh out a song around one or a few specific topics.

That was one thing I always liked about Jay-Z he was a great writer in the sense he could write a song and make it all feel like it's one thing.

No words or rhymes that felt out of place to the vibe of the song, no him straying to far from the point he's trying to get across.

I'll show a good example that's gonna make them Nas fanboys mad as ****:

Listen to Jay-Z's verse then Nas.

Notice Jay-Z has that nice cadence to it, the lyrics fit the feel of the song, keep that cadence and rhyme scheme, NO OVERLY FORCED RHYMES

Then Nas comes in and verse is OK, has some good lines but then he's talking about backflipping through burning hula hoops or some ****?

Anybody who's reasonably intelligent would listen and say "what the **** is this dude talking about?".

Jay-Z told the whole story about how he and Nas fell out, with the same cadence and rhyme scheme for the whole verse, while Nas was talking about backflipping through flaming hoops.

There's no substance there, it's just a bunch of words that fit together.
Bruh, u trying to argue that Jay-Z is better than Nas?

Just lol.

brb greatest rap album of all time
brb influenced the hottest rappers out right now (J. Cole, Dave East)
brb changed the way rap is produced forever

Jay-Z is aiight, I never hate on my people but the only thing he beats Nas at is making money.

Jay-Z us so much better than Nas it's not even funny.

I guarantee you know next to nothing about rapping and writing.

Nas had 1 classic album, his first album, never did **** since, that's awfully poverty for somebody as good as you claim.

Jay-Z's fingerprints are all over rap while the only remnants of Nas are when a rapper chooses to rhyme on some ****ty boom bap beat.

LMFAO Nas' most successful song is some annoying **** with a bunch of little kids singing Beethoven.

Oh yeah, and Jay-Z bodied Nas on his own track, it's that much funnier cause on Ether, Nas dissed Jay-Z for the same thing on Renegade (even though Jay-Z's performance was stronger than Eminem's TBH).

If that were true then why is Jay-Z so much better at making money than Nas?

Who has more album sales?

Nas music ain't about nothing but some pseudo-intellectual jibberish.

He's a better business man and has ventures outside of just rapping that are more successful than Nas as a whole.

But in terms of rap, Jay-Z will never come close to Nas.

And to think the year that it came out.

I'd put any of Nas' classics against new chit coming out. It's still 100% raw and full of lyrical genius. There's no other rapper that delivers the mental and emotional aspect of New York like he does.

LMFAO at business man cope, no it's called Jay-Z's catalog is light years better than Nas'.

That's why you have threads like this with tons of different songs from tons of listeners, through many years.

Meanwhile make a thread like this for Nas and you get a few hardcore Nas fans naming songs of his 1 good album.

You retarded bruh?

How is it cope when I'm clearly saying that Jay-Z is more successful than Nas as a business man?

You're judging how great Jay-Z is as a rapper based on his net worth? You listen to Bird Man too? Dumbass.

No, it's just the same people like you who think Chainsmokers make amazing EDM. Music is marketed to people with soy ears like you now.

Jay-Z is a better rapper, and most certainly a better songwriter.

I'm just LOL'ing even thinking back on how garbage some Nas songs were compared to The Great Jay-Z's.

****ing kids singing Beethoven, having to name an album a taboo word just to drum up interest, ****ing hook to a song gayly chronicling Nas changing his nicknames?

Nas singing about "Nasty Nas, to Escobar, now he is Nastrodamus" all sweet sounding like he just got his **** push back LMAOOO

LMFAOOOOO, dude is TRASH

Nasir > Jay

However Jay has some legendary tracks

Where I'm From
Is that your bitch
D'Evils
Brooklyns Finest
U Don't Know
Friend or Foe 1 and 2
What More Can I Say
The whole S. Carter mixtape

But...

He could have never written a "Rewind" or "Queens Story". Nas sits firmly atop the throne.
