no child support 50/50 custody... when a man cant pay child support he goes to jail... when a women cant afford child support she gets public housing... and thats cause women always get the kids 90% of time... so end all child support and favoritism and make it 50/50 custody no support required... grown up can take care of themselves and their kids...not only that women are hypergamous... cs creates gold diggers and players which ruins society... women will marry up just for cs which creates single mother gold digger... which ruins society and the kids life...

The children are supposed to have the same lifestyle as when you were married if not better.
It takes more than food and clothes.
In fairness my ex pays 600 a month for insurance for them.
My teen needs an MRI because his knee got hurt at football. The out of pocket on that is 800.
Braces, glasses, tutors. Sports martial arts.
There's more than good, rent, utilities per child.

it should always be paid - what is dumb is charging people for huge chunks of their pay pre-tax - I've seen people pay as high as 40% before taxes

I feel that the woman should have to show what they spend it on diapers, clothes, formula etc. have them keep the receipts and what not so they aren’t spending it on themselves .

Brb pay money to mom and she spends it on clothes for herself.
Brb its uncapped at a percentage of your income when it costs 100$ a month MAX to feed a kid beans and keep it alive.
Brb goes to 18 but kid can work legally much sooner.
Ill work under the table or move out of the country before i pay child support.

For example, if the man is dubbed 60% responsible for the child, he should pay 60% of allverifiedexpenses on the child. Nothing more.

Cases where someone is spending CS on themselves may happen, but I can only see that if the amount of income is very high, or the specific parent is just a heel.
Children don't stay babies on diapers and formula.
You want receipts for everything? Like someone is supposed to calculate how much of the laundry soap, toilet paper, gas/mileage for transportation specifically is used by/for the child? That would be nearly a full time job.
Like leo pointed out already food and housing are just the start.
You aren't made responsible for "60% of X amount with X = to the specific qualified provable expenses for the child".
It is more like they take both parent's income combined to get the total annual pay and then say X% of that total goes to supporting the child. Then whatever that number is (percentage of combined total income) is then divided up 60/40 or 50/50 or whatever.
So e.g. 1 parent has $100K gross income and the other has $50K gross income the total shared income would be $150K. Maybe the court says 20% for support of children...$30K a year. They do 50/50 custody.
That doesn't mean that they each are expected to put in $15K a year. The spouse making $100K may be expected to contribute $20K, while the spouse making $50K would be expected to contribute $10K.
But then if the children really are splitting their time equally the child support award could be $10K a year to the lower earning spouse with the presumption that each parent would contribute $10K directly when the child is staying with them.

I personally think that the government should not pay for people's kids. I've seen too many cases of an unemployed female, living in section 8 housing, on food stamps. With 4-8 children and nobody paying child support. Supposedly the government will pay for up to 5 children. Not sure when the checks/benefits stop. And these aren't 'single' females per say. They are always dating on and off random dudes that are usually unemployed.
With that said the options are either father pay child support, mother able to support kid. Or, IMO, if the government has to pay for that kid he shouldn't live with his mother. People who cannot afford kids shouldn't be allowed to breed and get paid for it.

Op is a *******.. that being said my one qualm is that states are all for chasing a father for child support but when a father wants custody it's about impossible unless the mother is an axe murderer.. my point being if everything is "equal" why does the father not have an equal opportunity of custody..

Virtually every child support recipient just takes the money and lumps it into their own regular budget; there's absolutely no assurance that the money goes toward the child in anything but an indirect way.

Men should be able to opt out before the child is born, just like how a woman can abort. But if you decide you want it, you have to pay if you and the mother split. I also don't think people who are proven to not be the father should have to pay.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Lol at opt out. It’s not fair because biology isn’t fair. Once you have a living, breathing child you’re obligated to take care of it whether you wanted it or not.
Why? Because it’s not everyone else’s fault to pick up the slack and the kid needs to eat.
