You have to understand how the credit system works. The system actually wants you to have MORE cards. As dumb and ridiculous as it sounds, thats just the system

If you have a solid 5-10+ cards with a long history, getting a few more will hardly do anything to your average age of accounts. Inquiries lower your credit score temporarily, but score will go back up to normal after around 6 months, and will have 0 impact on your score after 12 months; inquiries disappear FOREVER after 2 years.

Banks get pissed off if you cancel before the first year, so i hold onto them for that reason.

Obviously not everyone should do this if they're irresponsible with cards

they mean the amex black card - invitation only, you need like 1mil+ income. 10k join fee, unlimited credit line, buncha services, etc.

Recently got the Amazon prime card, might be the only metal card with no annual fee. Some nice benefits too. I can confirm people that handle cards all day, cashiers, waitresses, etc always give it a second look.

Cash or Debit card for the win. You can buy whatever you want with either one if you have the coin. And unless you travel for a living, travel bonuses are for peasants. Wow free airline tickets to Houston every two years, woohoo.

You are incorrect. Closing old credit cards is what destroys your credit because it shortens your average credit history length. (The longer your credit history the better your score)

Take me for example I opened my first credit card with a poverty credit union in college back in 2008. I only recently got in the rewards game in like 2015. I literally never close my old 2008 credit union card because that would shorten my credit history from 10 years to 3 years which would superbly fuk my score.

Can open and cancel new cards for the rewards quite often with only taking a 2 to 5 point score hit for the hard pull query. I wouldn't apply for more than 2 in a year though. I also wouldn't try to churn and burn chase or amex since they have the GOAT rewards programs and you wouldn't want to end up on a blacklist

Wondering if it would be better for me to have the AMEX Gold Card since I spend a fukk ton of money eating out. 4X on grocery/dining still made of metal so I can flex on them peasants lol
