I'd say by mid 2000s. If you had $100k in the 90s you were stupid balling. 20 years later and it really isn't nothing nice. Just a comfortable living.

Also it depends on where you live, but if you're single there's not a lot of places to live where it's cheap + fun.

About the same time I realized that even making 10k a year makes you richer than every king, emperor, or dictator that ever existed before 1950.

All money is now is a way to keep score.

Lmfao wow strongest cope of all time. Money is nothing more than a physical representation of buying power. If you think you had the same buying power as the figures you are referencing that is a whole new league of delusion.

Well there are two ways to live on 100k. Modest house, basic car, etc with money in the bank, or killer house, sports car, and nothing in the bank.

Few people will get to live like they're rich and actually be rich, and if you do then chances are you're from a wealthy family. For everyone else, if you're smart, disciplined, and spend your life working, you might retire relatively wealthy

anything below 50/hr should just be automated and the people who did those jobs should be desiccated and incinerated in power plants to fuel their robot replacements (too far?)

Exactly, it is a cheap car with good mileage but no comfort. I can't have a car with no heated seats, cloth, etc

Ah, what the hell I'll bite

Pew Research defines middle class as anywhere between 2/3 and 2 times the median household income. That's about 45K - 125K. So by that definition 100K is upper middle class, not lower.

We can't help it that you live in an area that only middle class and above can afford to live, and your housing choices and spending habits make a $150K salary seem like paycheck to paycheck. Maybe learn how to use your finances correctly

Case in point, you rent an apartment and pay alimony, yet you have two cars, one of which depreciates extremely rapidly.
