Whether people want to have kids or not, that's their choice. But stop pretending like that decision is based on some high moral ground when it's really mostly based on selfish reasons.

I also find couples who decide to not have kids very cringey when they instead decide to have a collection of dogs and/or cats. Talk about coping.

to think reproducing is a noble act, you'd have to have zero concept of the scope of the universe, the age of the planet, its evolutionary history, the likelihood of future natural or anthropogenic extinction events etc. etc.

Not quite. If you look at it from a societal perspective, that's a lot of lost productivity. That individual was part of a much larger machine as a whole, not too mention that the loss impacts on their loved ones. Significant suffering on the part of their loved ones and not all of their loved ones may be able to recover resulting in further lost productivity.If said person is a mother/father/others rely on them, then the consequences are even more adverse.

Its only selfish if you know that you are passing on shyt tier genetics. My dad forced arranged marriage to my mom and my dad has the worst genes ever. 4'11 and went full bald at 20 and A bunch of other health problems. Unfortunately my mom was forced to have kids with him and ended up making me. Those terrible genetics got passed down to me and my life is shyt and will prob end myself soon.

I dont plan on having kids only because for me having kids would be a selfish thing to do because I will just make an offspring that will suffer.

For the majority of people I dont think having kids is selfish but for some people it is.
