White families tend to be more spread out, I.e. Not live within 2 miles of each other for generation after generation

White people have a less tribal mentality and don't feel bonded with extended family or have the need to be

I dont hang with my cousins because they arent male and just dont mesh with my personality. Too goody-goody. The ones that live close enough to me to hang out that is. Plus, entire family has jobs and stuff that keep us busy. Not to mention our own families

Proabably related to white parents shoving kids out the door at age 18 even if they aren’t ready Kinda like a 4th grader trying to turn in a half done essay

Cousins are always extremely diverse in personality double so with big families like mine where I have 12 cousins but only get along with maybe 2. The rest are just extremely different in interest and persona

Just some imo the bonding I’ve made with my closest friends is past anything my cousins have because it’s natural and not stemming from an obligation to get along cause family

I never hung out with my cousins either and we're Mexican, but I know what you mean. Black people have cookouts and block parties with dozens of cousins and white people don't for the most part.

This is extremely accurate and a lot of it describes my childhood. Part of why I didn't want kids. It's more and more expensive every year to have kids so a lot of families are forced to work two jobs.

I have 7 cousins and over 30 second cousins and the only one I actually like to hang with is a huge dyke lol. Shes the only family member within 5+- years of my age, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

Smaller families so less cousins.
Larger percentage go to college so delay having kids till later or not at all.
By going away to college, people typically then move around the country and don't live near family. You aren't going to travel across the country to hang out with a cousin like you would a brother or parent.

Personally I have 9 first cousins. All my cousins live all over the country from 5 hours away at closest to other side of the country at the furthest. The closest any of them live to each other is an hour and they are siblings and still live an hour apart.

I have a few cousins fairly close to me in age that I was close to as kids despite only seeing them a handful of times per year. Several years into adulthood when we all had a lot more freedoms to drive and stuff, I tried to either expand on that or at least have some sort of connection with them, but they're all lazy fuks when it comes to family and were sort of receptive, but never did anything on their own end to support those connections.

They're content with slapping a bunch of stupid chit on social media and throwing a few "likes" out here and there and calling it good. So eventually I decided F that, if you're they're not going to put any effort into it than neither am I. It's kind of sad and not at all how I imagined it would be when we were kids, but that's just the way it goes.
