Good luck, OP.
I think reading stoic philosophy may be good for your mind:

https://dailystoic.com/seneca-overco...e-nature-life/

"I am not soothing you or making light of your misfortune: if fate can be overcome by tears, let us bring tears to bear upon it: let every day be passed in mourning, every night be spent in sorrow instead of sleep: let your breast be torn by your own hands, your very face attacked by them, and every kind of cruelty be practiced by your grief, if it will profit you. But if the dead cannot be brought back to life, however much we may beat our breasts, if destiny remains fixed and immoveable forever, not to be changed by any sorrow, however great, and death does not loose his hold of anything that he once has taken away, then let our futile grief be brought to an end. Let us, then, steer our own course, and no longer allow ourselves to be driven to leeward by the force of our misfortune. He is a sorry pilot who lets the waves wring his rudder from his grasp, who leaves the sails to fly loose, and abandons the ship to the storm: but he who boldly grasps the helm and clings to it until the sea closes over him, deserves praise even though he be shipwrecked." - Seneca

https://dailystoic.com/stoic-response-grief/

“Has it then all been for nothing that you have had such a friend? During so many years, amid such close associations, after such intimate communion of personal interests, has nothing been accomplished? Do you bury friendship along with a friend? And why lament having lost him, if it be of no avail to have possessed him? Believe me, a great part of those we have loved, though chance has removed their persons, still abides with us. The past is ours, and there is nothing more secure for us than that which has been.” - Seneca

What stephen hawking had apart from the fact its very unlikely to live 50 decades like he did as it normally kills in 3-5 years. Earlier so when you have Bublar onset, which is when it starts from the mouth region/throat which is likely where mine has started from going off my worrying symptoms.
Im 20 years old Misc. Havent done **** with my life and unsurprisingly im scared. My family think its anxiety but that doesnt cause my fingers to get stuck, my mouth to slur words and my tongue to be weaker and skinnier on one side and my whole body to have muscle spasms. I dunno why im making this thread, just wanted to leave a memory of me on here if the worse happens (and its increasingly looking likely) and just say thanks for the laughs on the way out.
Will update the thread when im aware of 100% whats happening but my GP looked quite concerned to say the very least so ive lost hope at this point.
They thought I had ALS when I was 40.

Turned out I have a lesser disease that looks like it.

Probably a false alarm.

However, if you were truly expecting to live another 50 decades, I'm afraid I've got some bad news for you...

Im awake now, a new page since i last looked but i'll try reply to a some atleast before i head off to do something today. On the plus side my hands feel about the same, but my arms feel a bit different, i dunno if that was in my head but i was going to go the gym today will see how i do. legs feel slightly shaky, better than yesterday but i hadnt actually slept properly in 2 days so it could be due to that. Only thing that gives me the slightest bit of hope is that its unusual for ALS to hit the hands and legs even just slightly in a matter of weeks but even so my weird tongue is the kick so ya know. Should hopefully see some mates tonight atleast on a plus.

I am not saying you shouldn't be concerned and could have something going on...but I will say this...stress and anxiety does play a factor..for example the muscle twitching..dude I've had spans where every at any given time of the day I could find some muscle twitch on my body, you can see them just by looking at them...the more I focus on them the more prevalent they become.

I will say this, for you at 20 years of age to have ALS would be EXTREMELY rare. Try and keep your head up. Could be a ton of things.

When someone says "think of an animal with hooves".....it's probably not a zebra...it's probably a horse. Good luck bro, I'll pray for ya.
Thanks man, i mean i want it to be something else and im fully aware how rare it is at my age but i cant rule it out. the fact i have stuff going on with my throat as well as my other body parts just isnt a good sign.

Thanks man, there have been some things from a few google searches going on in drugs to help with ALS recently, think Edaravone is supposedly the best one actually to do anything worthwhile, just cant get it in the UK anyway actually so i dunno. Neurological diseases are a bummer to treat.

Fudge, my stomach sank reading your first post.

I am so sorry for what you're going through right now--especially the anxiety of not knowing what tomorrow holds or what you'll do from here on out.

If I could give you a hug right now, I would. Thank you for sharing with us so we could be there with you--I hope you're sharing just as much with the people physically close to you as well because I think the hardest thing would be trying to go through this alone. Really use the supports you have as you navigate your way through this.

sorry to hear OP. wishing you well.

remember the mind is a powerful thing. in fact, it's the most powerful thing known to man. i'm about to go real hippy so bear with me:

if you want to heal your mind, forget about your mind. if you want to heal your body, you need to forget about your body. you need to be nothing but pure consciousness. do you believe your thoughts can make you sick? well if you do, then your thoughts can make you well.

look up Dr. Joe Dispenza on youtube.

i'm going to say a prayer for you tonight before bed. best.

The good news is im seeing a neurologist on Thursday, the bad news is I feel exhuasted and have been awake for only 5 or so hows and i want to sleep again. Walked to the shops and although my legs seem to work fine-ish, i can noticably feel like my swaying to the right slightly when i walk, almost like im a bit drunk but im able to correct myself before it gets noticable. Tempted to just sleep now as I said and try and head out tonight.
