Babe Ruth also played from 1914 - 1935, well before the MLB was desegregated and well before cellteching become commonplace or anywhere near as advanced as it did by the 90's to present times.

I'm not saying this to rip on Ruth's career, but comparing players from that era to ones who played anywhere from 70 - 100 years after their time is just ridiculous. You're assumption that Ruth would have hit not only more home runs, but literally double what he did back then had he played in the modern era whilst remaining 100% natty is just stupid. I will say that I think he'd still have been a great player regardless, and perhaps still among the GOAT's of the modern era if he had hopped on the celltech like everyone else, but to argue that he'd be even better today than he was in the 1920's as a natty is ridiculous.

You're like the type of guy who thinks one can compare guys who played in the NFL in the 20's and 30's as a part-time job with real jobs to keep them afloat financially to the full-time celltech players of the modern era. Be realistic, lol.

lol @ people in this thread comparing players from different eras, you can't do that. Do you even factor in variables? Bonds cheated plain and simple, doesn't matter if the entire league did, he was a cheat.

I made the judgement based on the comparison with their peers. Obviously the competition is better in modern times but Ruth was so far ahead of anyone else, it was like a man playing with children. Bonds had a few years where he was clearly the best but others weren't that far behind

Had bonds stayed in Pittsburgh he would have had 900 hr's easily. The clemente wall was practically made for someone like him.

I don't think bonds started juicing until 99, if he did prior to that, it Wasn't the hardcore stuff he got on after that. It's a well known fact that bonds was jealous as fuk of mcgwire and Sosa and the attention they got in 98. Bonds was a much better pure hitter than they were but with juice they hit more hr's. I think after that season he went full on oj.

Pre-juice bonds was one of the best ever, but oj probably postponed any age related decline so it's hard to say whether or not he would have declined after age 30 or not without oj

Had he played by today's rules he would have had more. Back then, wrapping one around the foul pole was a foul ball, not a hr like today. Apparently he did this often to the point that a book exists called the year babe Ruth hit 104 homeruns.

Those guys are literally all C-tier compared to Bonds' numbers, and even without steroids Bonds is a 500/400 and maybe 500/500 player, still putting him a tier above those guys.

I'm biased because I'm an SFG fan, but those few seasons in the early 2000's were the most exciting to watch an individual player. Bonds was on another planet.

You're right, probably about 1800 on a hotdog and beer diet, maybe 2500 with proper training and nutrition

I repped you based on your statement about comparing players from different eras. That is very true.

But when it comes to celltech, you can rip on players all you want for it, but to hold a select few accountable whilst letting everyone else who didn't get caught and/or wasn't blasted for it nearly as badly by the media is just wrong. Whether anyone likes it or not, cellteching is a fact of top level athletics. There are enough people who actually get into athletics these days where the notion that 1 will simply be so much more amazing than the rest that they can not only compete with them, but be better than everyone around them cellteching. As am example - you're never, I repeat NEVER going to find a pure natty 500lb+ bench presser, let alone one who can bench over 700 raw and 1,000 geared for the world records. Anyone who claims they've found a natty 500lb+ is delusional and anyone who claims to be one is flat out frauding. You can either accept those facts and decide to appreciate their achievements regardless, or you can choose to rip on the whole thing. But those are the facts, and no one's feelings about it matter.

And inb4 people boast about passing celltech tests. There are three issues with that: #1 Celltech can stay in the system for as little as 3-4 weeks, leading to potential preparation and/or better luck for testing than certain other "supplements". #2 There are countless ways to cheat tests, whether by complete deception or masking them somehow depending on how strict the testing is. Finding was to fraud about cellteching is literally just as big of deal as the cellteching itself. Lastly, #3 Even people who celltech at one point and then stop are never truly pure natties again for as long as they live. Without getting deep into the scientific details, there is a lot of evidence to suggest that former celltech users can benefit from it to some degree even long after it's out of their systems because it triggers some sort of receptors or something that lifetime natties never did.

Cliffs:

- Like or hate it, cellteching is a part of modern athletics, and it will be forever going forward.

- Trying to act like people who didn't get caught automatically didn't do it is just ignorance, no other way to put it.

- Holding a select few top tier athletes as scapegoats for the preservation of perceived fantasyland "integrity" regarding celltech in top level athletics is nonsensical and delusional.
