Trophy hunters are complete *******s. Most of them are overweight baldcels trying to convince themselves they're alpha for killing such powerful animals. Take the gun away and those betas would scatter very quickly.

100% but you have to remember lions don't have the same luxury as humans, going to the grocery store and picking up whatever we want.

This guy had no real reason to go and kill the big cat even if he wanted it meat. Why kill an endangered species?

This. Applies to hunters in general, not just trophy hunters. BRB getting my camou on and face paint and hiding in a tree for an hour just to shoot a deer, when I could quite easily go to the store and buy some meat right off the shelf. If you live in a somewhat isolated area, fair enough, but it isn't necessary for most people.

Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Lion probably should have found some cover to sleep in instead of being right out in the open like that. Rookie move IMO

If lions didn't want to be shot sleeping they should probably develop some sort of base where they can go inside and sleep and the base has motion sensing turret guns and **** the hunter would have been ****ed son

That deer the hunter shot led a better life than the feed lot cattle you picked up at the store.

As for African Trophy hunts... Typically the animals are already marked for death. Why pay a game warden to do it when someone will pay 10's of thousands of dollars to do it?

Those funds lead to better protection from poachers and more funding for the reserve. Which saves the lions.

I don't see the thrill of African trophy hunts, but realize game management is extremely important for species.

Trophy hunting is for *******s...there’s not a lot of things that rile me up, but if I saw this going on in real life I would rage and really let them know how I feel!!

Kind of like the same way SJW’s will protest trump and scream at people, that will be me to these *******s

"Just over a century ago, there were more than 200,000 wild lions living in Africa. Today, there are only about 20,000; lions are extinct in 26 African countries." The population count from the IUCN Red List is slightly more optimistic, but not much: They estimate there are 20,000 to 39,000 lions left in the wild"

Meanwhile humans going to 10 billion.

Would of been more impressed if he killed the lion with a knife. Shooting a sleeping animal must be hard

On the one hand, the lion is a threatened specie and an apex predator and because of that I don't think they should be killed just for the hell of it. Go hunt some deer or other prey animal that is overpopulated if you feel like hunting.

On the other hand, what would be the only real manly way to hunt an animal? When it's charging at you about to crush your skull? Is shooting a sleeping lion any different than shooting a lion 500 feet away just lounging in the grass?

I don't think people are mainly upset because the lion was sleeping when it got killed rather as you mentioned it's an endangered species so why kill it?

I'm all for hunting but not killing an endangered animal when it's meat won't cure cancer or do anything except feed a few people.
