Anyone seeing any overhyped film late in the game is going to be disappointed almost by default. 1) You're expecting something totally amazing 2) You're only watching because of the hype and in the back of your mind you're thinking "it's probably not that great" going in.

It was overhyped IMO but not bad. My gf hated it but I thought it was like 6.5/10. Kept my interest and had some good scenes but not something that had a lasting impression.

I haven't seen it so I can't comment on it's quality, and I like Jordan Peele (at least with sketch comedy) but if a movie is "woke" just take the critic reviews with a grain of salt, although salt is white so that's racist, take it with a grain of pepper. Plus, check your privilege if you're a cis-white male.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Did NOT live up to all the hype and praise it received but then again neither does any other mainstream movie. Was it bad? No. Would I watch it again? No. Would I say that the hype was solely based around SJW virtue signalling? Yes. Was I entertained and rate it as a solid 6-7/10? Yes.

I've not seen it, although the concept sounds interesting. Old people abducting people and putting their brains in them and schit. Was hilarious listening to my mum trying to figure out what the twist would be when she watching it at home. "They're werewolves? Aliens who steal human souls?"
Didn't get the whole deal about it and race, seems that you could have had anyone being the abductor/abductees and it wouldn't make a difference other than having race jokes n shiet.

Get out just wasn't good. Same with black panther.
Both movies all I hear is how great they are. They are original and refreshing. They weren't. Imo

It wasn't really a "horror" movie. It was more like a thriller with horror cinematography. Super overhyped but I enjoyed it.
US was much better imo. A lot scarier and directed much better.

But the idea that movies focusing on minorities get free tickets to high critic reviews is straight up silly. In reality, these movies do so well because they’re built around compelling stories that attract top-tier filmmakers who want to translate those stories into visual media.
It’s not rocket science and there’s no bias or conspiracy, these just happen to be evocative subjects with great stories behind them. Moonlight and Hidden Figures are two awesome examples I can think of

Protip: these people don't judge movies based on their entertainment value or quality at all. They do it almost entirely based on politics. All of the Stuckmannns of the world do this on a regular basis, but when people get tired of if they play dumb and act like you're wrong for criticizing them because they're oppressed.

Was it the best movie I've ever seen in my life? No. But it was definitely a good movie. Mind blown that people complain about this, a unique story, andnot the 10000000 remakes and Transformers/CGI bs that clogs the theatres.

I agree with OP .. couldn’t care less about the politics but it wasn’t as good as the critics said .. a similar but way better movie was the Sixth Sense .. the Rock was great in it

The last 20 minutes or so was the one of the most satisfying endings to a movie I’ve ever seen.

It was alright not bad for like a date night movie, rating was no doubt majorly bumped up for SJW points. Would of gave a 6.5/10 for the TSA guy giving me a few chuckles mainly.

I liked it and personally I didn't think it was heavily criticized.
It did make fun of white liberalism but it didn't come off as preachy.
I think it was horror mixed with comedy. Peele uses the same elements of creating suspense and anticipation to either create humor or horror as a climax in his films and many of his sketches on Key & Peele.
I would give the film a 7/10 film simply because it was actually an original Hollywood idea.
