Soccer becoming increasingly more popular in USA

I was always surprised, since I wasn’t born in US, that soccer isn’t popular in US, given it’s easy to play, needs almost no equipment, easy to follow and understand, with massive crowds and insane money and highlight reel goals, one would think US advertisers and billionaire investors would jump on that market long ago and buy all the top players etc.

Soccer clubs from all over the world compete viciously for talent, budding stars are already multimillionaires by the time they hit 18, there are frequent non-league matches to play and a team that goes through a bad stretch simply gets relegated, destroying ticket/ad/viewership revenue.
On the other hand, Major Leagues are predicated on ensuring a ROI for every owner invested in the league for the long term. This means no relegations, equitable redistribution of revenues, some sort of salary cap, monopoly + leverage over young talent (drafts/college system/contract restrictions), no poaching without trades. It's bizarre if you think about it because soccer is basically a Randian free-for-all while the American major sports is more like socialism for the rich.

The difference is they use VAR technology to review plays, so you don't run into problems like quarterbacks claiming a game-deciding fumble was an incomplete pass in the playoffs.

It's because the massive influx of legal and illegal immigrants from hispanic countries.
Imagine if 30 million white grandma's illegally entered your country, the Home TV channel viewers would skyrocket.

lol @ Americans thinking if American football and basketball didn't exist they'd be top in football.
Sorry no. Americans don't do great in internationally competitive sports. There so called athletes are fatsos and giants, something that adds no value in football.
You may think a 300lb fatso is an A level athlete, but they ain't chit.
lol at any of these basketball players or American football players being good footy players... They;re fat bums.
America will never take to football, because they don't have what it takes to dominate the sport. As soon as they dont progress they'll get upset and claim they're chit tier sports are superior. This thread is case in point.

Eh, Soccer is pretty fun to watch if you're there in person. Me and the boyos will tailgate for a few hours before the game with drinks and food, then "march in" with the supporters section. They will literally close down the streets so that the supporters can get into the stadium. Then if you're sitting in the supporters section, they go fukking nuts and it's a a cool atmosphere to be in. I think soccer will get popular because the US is ass at soccer, and we all get competitive. Down in Atlanta they fill the stadium, which is crazy.

soccer here in Ga has gotten very popular for a few reasons.
1. tickets to the game are CHEAP! I've got 2 100 level season tickets for about $1,200 that's 17 games plus tons of perks for being a season ticket holder. you can't go to a Falcons game for less than $300-ticket and have decent seats. then if you want season tickets you have a stupid PSL that'll cost more than my soccer season on top of the cost of the tickets.
2. This is unique to Atlanta. Food and drink are CHEAP at Mercedes Benz Stadium. for example hotdogs are $1.50 and fountain drinks with free refills are $2.
3. the crowd is super excited and loud the whole game.
4. the game is only 90 minutes so with half time etc you're in and out within 2 hours. so unless tailgate or go to an after party it won't eat up your whole day. going to an NFL or college game will eat up your entire day.
all that being said I still prefer college football and to a lesser degree NFL.
