And there's some that are a total waste of space. But what makes a cop good? Just their fighting ability? That's dumb too.

In that situation it isnt about "shooting the hand" its about containment. You have any idea how hard it is to shoot a gun out of someones hand.. they need to end it before anyone else gets shot.. it isnt a movie..

Anyways, about the police shooting him after he puts his hands up. The rules of engagement change once bullets start flying. You can't start a gunfight and then when things aren't working for you, you can just go "redlight" by putting your hands up. Protocal is that once you fire, it doesn't stop until you are DOWN.

Perp is a total bitch. He can hit a woman but when the guy shows up, you surrender like a punk.

A good cop doesn't need superior fighting skills, just the ability to engage and disengage a situation properly. Plenty of huge dudes that could pummel a fit male cop, which is why they always need to keep a reasonable distance to react, stay situationally aware and be prepared for violence. Of course a physically superior cop can relax more around people, but criminals could still draw a firearm and kill them in an instant.

It's obvious this woman cop let her guard down.

Woman cop was the first on the scene and already had her gun drawn for some reason, the question is why she let him get so close. It's possible the caller mentioned he had a weapon and once the cavalry arrived after hearing shots fired they were even more on edge. Basically any sudden movement of his arms and he got pumped with lead, kinda hard to tell from the trees. Should have left the gun on the ground. Should have not been a criminal in the first place.

She may have let her guard down, but to say she did that because she's a woman is stupid.

It's also stupid to assume she let her guard down just based on that video, that starts when they're already fighting. Just because someone is able to get within arms reach and grab onto a cop doesn't mean they necessarily let their guard down. I get the whole "Every situation is avoidable with the right tactics blah blah", but that's some bs. Sometimes, fights are going to happen no matter how tactical or aware you are.

Not saying this female cop is a great tactician or anything, but saying attractive females shouldn't be cops is stupid, which was the initial post I was responding to. Jumping to conclusions saying she let her guard down just because she wound up on the bad end of a fight is also stupid.

She wasn’t that far from him when he had the gun, he’s clearly shot a gun before so he can aim and kill her if he wanted to.

It was more of a shot to “show her who’s alpha” if it was a man he would have killed him since missing is a sign of weakness like hitting/killing a woman is.
