Imo Phoenix’ is portraying The Joker as a mentally ill person, and we’re inside his ill mind.
Ledgers joker, while obviously a psycho, is a “super villian” first, and a mentally ill person second.
Yeah, that's what I mean, my subconscious was still focusing on the super-villain aspect, even though I knew that this isn't that kind of movie.
While watching Joker, I had to unpack the parts of my mind that kept on recalling Ledger's performance.

That's why I have to watch Joker a second time, to appreciate it more.

He also hinted that TDK was wayy better and a masterpiece though, so lol

Apparently, the previews for a movie are 20 minutes long now. That's ridiculous.

In regard to the movie, this was an amazing performance by Joaquin. Too bad he probably won't get an Oscar because it's all about the politics.

The ending was great, I didn't expect it.

And I don't think incels can relate that much to this movie because Joker actually had a girlfriend in this movie. Not sure if all incels are actually that mentally disturbed.

She was not his girlfriend; the movie makes it pretty clear that the only actual moment those two had in reality was in the elevator. The rest was his imagination.


I thought the movie was good, the cinematography outstanding. But it was too many 'beautiful, panning shots', like minutes of him climbing up and down those stairs in the Bronx.

I expected more.

Movie was great but it was basically just a remake of Taxi Driver. Phoenix’s performance was the most interesting aspect of the film.

Yeah I wasnt sure if itd live up but it was balls out incredible. Seeing it again next week. Only criticism is that it should have ended with him on top of the cop car smearing his blood into the joker smile

Interesting movie, great acting by Phoenix. But other than a few references to Gotham and Wayne there wasn't alot to convince me that this guy was THE Joker. I'm supposed to buy that he's an intellectual villain that goes toe to toe with the greatest detective in the world?
He was crazy in the movie yes. But not crazy smart.

can't argue with you there the film was phucking visceral, every tense scene the audience felt it, shame they missed the point of the movie when everyone started laughing at the manlet in the theaters when he couldn't reach the door lock.

Not sure whether to go watch this... I've read several reviews and a lot are mixed. Some are giving it 2/5 and others saying it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Got burnt listening to critics rave about Ad Astra and went to go watch that - absolute dogchit of a movie and everyone was giving it 5* lol worst fukking movie I have seen ever in my life.

meh I dont care for it. All it is is a cool back story for the joker and batman i guess..this movie is just kinda disturbing, barely tbh. super hero movies are all fake and gay. Acting was really good though..

Would rather watch Reqiuem for a Dream if I want to feel "bad" after watching a movie.

Idgaf about movies though, they are a waste of time and the theaters are a waste of money..I went just because my GF wanted to see it, and she actually liked it. I havent seen a movie that I liked in a long time.
Good movies that come to mind are Gladiator,Good Will Hunting, or Shawshank.

Would literally rather take a walk outside than watch a movie. srs.
