It's the most infectious virus to date. With how connected the world is now with travel/airports it could spread very quickly.

As they say, the best times to catch a virus during a pandemic is right at the start, or right at the end. So unless you're feeling lucky, I recommend you catch it ASAP and get treatment now while you will get treated like a VIP.

True.

10,000 people have died from this flu season alone, but noone really cares. In fact many welcome it by being anti-vaxxers.

The concern with coronavirus is that it is an upper AND lower respiratory tract infection (flu is just upper and pneumonia is just lower). So its particularly difficult to get rid of and its far more contagious (even while the victim is asymptomatic) than influenza. With the flu you have to exhibit symptoms to pass it to someone else.

Most of the western world will be fine, but 3rd world countries are going to be hit pretty damn hard....Not to mention we import a lot fo crap from 3rd world countries (shoes clothes toys etc) and people will stop buying foreign produced commodities which is why the markets are reeling

If youre truly that paranoid just do what my friend did during the Bird Flu. Buy sanitation wipes. When you go to class wipe down your desk and the door handles to classrooms before using them. Also wear a mask when in public.

Then of course there are the more obvious precautions that our parents taught us, like not touching your face. Keep your fingers/hands away from mucous membranes (your nose/eyes/mouth) unless you've recently washed your hands.

Also hand sanitizer gels that evaporates isn't good enough. You want to actually wipe your hands or wash them off with HOT water.....and stop eating out or having other peope cook your food in general. Go to the grocery store once per week early in the morning or late at night when there are very few people about, and buy enough food to prep for weeks at a time.

Most precautionary measures are self explanatory really.

It's nothing.

It's good old fear-mongering, which is highly advantageous for many industries and organisations, but it's also something new - massive, worldwide "organic spread". It's actually an interesting case study, I reckon - as I'm sure you're all aware by now, this is not "the coronavirus", it'sacoronavirus. So was SARS, but this time 'they' didn't even have time to name the fukn thing before the entire world was freaking out about it. Interdasting look at how the internet has changed the world, and at the spread of not only a novel coronavirus, but also the spread of information.

It's a big deal.

In China, 3.5% of the people catching it are dying. That's many, many times more than with the common flu. On top of that, you can catch it and be contagious for 2-3 weeks before showing symptoms, so you're going to spread it to your family and friends without knowing it, if you do get it.

On top of that, people who got it, spent a couple of weeks in the hospital before beating it and being released, are catching it again and that seems to cause very rapid deterioration and death.

The MSM is playing politics with this because they're hoping it will hurt Trump, but it's also a real threat. The fact that our borders are still open and there is no screening done to anyone except those coming from China is also a big worry. The virus has escaped containment in China. Anyone can be a carrier at this point.

If you catch a cough, along with high fever and shortness of breath, you should see a doctor. If you have it, they may quarantine you at a hospital or at home. If quarantined at home, you'll need food and supplies for a few weeks. That's pretty much all that anyone is talking about at this point. Preparing by getting some extra dry food and flu medicine to combat the symptoms. The smart people started doing this a couple of weeks ago. The rest won't even consider it until the really useful items become scarce. I'd hate to find out there was a hotspot in my town, go to the store to stock up on flu medicine, and find out everything was sold out a week prior.

Remember 3.5% death rate is about 1 in 30 people. That can add up to a big number pretty quickly.

The 2-5% dying are probably mostly children and old people, or people who already have health issues. Young and healthy people likely have a lower death rate

so many people are afraid of flying but they're more likely to die in a car crash

so many people namely americans are afraid of being shot by some jihad terrorist when they're a hundred times more likely to get shot by some crack head drug dealer

If people hadn't been placed in isolation or intensive care, the deaths would be a lot higher. If we treated the virus as an ordinary influenza, don't you think it'd be a lot more severe?

The Spanish flu had a 2% mortality rate and managed to kill 50 million people. Corona has a higher mortality rate and much longer incubation period, making it potentially a pretty serious threat if not combated early. It could be unnecessary fear mongering, or these precautions could save the world from a serious epidemic.

So, here it goes:
80,000 People are Sick with Coronavirus at the Moment
of which 77,000 are in China.
If you contract Coronavirus, this still is not a cause for alarm, because:
81% of the Cases are MILD
14% of the Cases are MODERATE
and only 5% of the Cases are CRITICAL

This means that if you do get the virus, you are most likely to recover from it.

This means that if you are under 50 years of age, and not living in China, you are more likely to win the lottery which is a 1 in 45,000,000 chance!

It's a media hype.

Just like SARS, Swine Flu, Bird flu and then ebola.

Ebola was supposed to end the world and is much more dangerous than Corona virus.

The funny thing is, it could be a month, it could be 6 months, but suddenly this entire story will disappear from the news and we will all move onto something new.
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Also, the virus could mutate into something deadlier or gain resistances to any treatments, etc. Whenever a new illness is poised to spread potentially worldwide and mass infect millions or billions, there is a cause for concern. OP might not know how pandemics work by saying "less than 3000 in a month, no big deal". Pandemics spread exponentially they start slow and then steadily gain momentum over time. Lets just hope that governments can be more honest with the stats.
