Also, if you're gonna use an N95 mask, my brother said a lot of people don't use them correctly. Make sure you shave your beard to ensure there is a seal. You should not be able to smell anything from outside if the mask is working correctly. You put the mask on and then clamp down on the nose metal bar things to get a good seal on your face.

Basic law of supply and demand determines every n95 mask is either going to be expensive, or sold out at this point. You'll have better luck making your own. 3D printing a mask to house the filter is also viable.

Edit: Googled it. Apparently, you need to select size, shape, and color first.
There are some options on the page there.
LOL it's not even color, but like 5 pack vs 1 pack etc. I would choose the 5 pack.
Damn the 25 pack is expensive af. $188 wtf

Basically the idea is to try to get a better seal around your face instead of just using the filter material and some elastics. You do this by 3D printing the mask, using some kind of sealant on the plastic to block any microscopic holes, and adding a rubber seal around the edges for comfort and to block out air better. This is 100% better than just a cloth mask, but it is also less effective than a certified n95 mask/respirator as the seal isn't guaranteed on your homemade mask.

Based off the recommendation of the "COVID-19 Speculation, Conspiracy Theories Thread" I picked up a few N99 masks months ago.
Have you tried looking for N99 masks instead? IMO you should just not buy any at all since healthcare workers are the priority.

It would be a good idea to this in your information thread in case there are other posters that are buying masks.

I lucked out and actually had 2 brand new N95 masks sitting around so the wife and I use those. I have a chit load of surgical masks and sometimes I use them but I couple it with a face shield from this company -->https://safishing.com/product-category/face-shield/
The ability to breathe isn't bad.
If you want for now I can send you some surgical masks to use in the meantime. Let me know pogy brah.

Just lol @ not wearing N95 masks. I bought some last year when the California Camp Fire was going on and the air was toxic to breathe. I had opened a new bulk pack to get some then. Not going to donate an opened pack (and they wouldn't take them anyway) so no fuks given about wearing something I already paid for long ago.

But then they sold them all to China because $$$. Looks like the government forgot to prioritize the US over exports to other countries.
Trump eventually figured it out.

MERV 16 filter x2 layers + merv 13 layer. If you can 3d print a mask for it that's ideal, or adapt to an existing respirator or sew into a face mask.
Household air filters are still available on amazon.https://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-NEW.../dp/B009CEUX20
Filter like this you can punch out 100 masks. Long story short, I have a MSA respirator that I can't get new filters for at all...I'll be printing new housings and using household air filters for it in the mean time. If I didn't have the respirator (basically the piece that connects to your face) I'd be looking into a 3d printer to make that component or buying a sewing machine (srs).
Best advice you'll find here, plus check your PMs.

at this point you might be better off assuming you will get exposed to the virus and stay active/healthy/sleep well in order to boost your immune system.

I have a full box of these...

Just sitting in my closet...
I might break them out if I need to work in public. This is retail $20 *******s. Why not own a box in your closet? In November 2018 we had a fire here in CA people price gouged. When it cools down buy a few boxes and put them in you closet...
