You can't compare the 1940s to now, were much more globally connected. And they're two totally different viruses. We've seen how easily the coronavirus jumps species and there are reports of 8 different strains. So it's totally different

No, all the experts agree with me. This is basic scientific knowledge. It's people who lack the ability to interpreter the manner in which science is discussed that are causing confusion, they never say anything with absolute certainty because it's difficult to prove anything without a doubt. That doesn't mean the overwhelming odds aren't the it grants immunity. I posted a Dr. Faucci video above, please watch.

So you're going to ignore the video I just posted?

I just provided proof the the countries leading expert in the field agrees with me, yet somehow you're insisting on sticking with your point of view - for some reason.

Please respond to the video, tell me how you know better than Dr. Faucci.

Do you agree with the experts that the lockdowns and social distancing are necessary now or have you been posting here everyday saying that we dont need to heed their advice and that they are wrong??

Are you so brain dead that you can't understand the difference between a rigid scientific fact that you can't have an opinion on (gaining immunity from a virus) and a complex political decision (Lock down)?

Are you left wing or right wing? If you're right wing, are you a retard for not agreeing with everything Bernie Sanders says? He's the expert right? He is the politician in power after all. So disagreeing with Bernie Sanders is the same thing as thinking the earth is flat right? Since scientists agree that the earth is round, and Bernie agrees that he's right and they're both experts, correct?

Interesting that you put "know better" in quotes as if doctors and infectious disease experts dont know better? YES they fukking know better than you. YOU dont know anything about infectious diseases. And YES you should shut up and listen the the """""""experts""""""". LOL ****ing moron.

Exactly, we fully agree. Hence why you should listen to Dr. Faucci and every other infectious disease expert that agrees there's no reason to believe it doesn't grant immunity after recovery.

How am I saying the opposite? I'm seriously confused by all your replies. You completely ignore any argument I put forward and just say some completely strange chit that has nothing to do with what I said.

Experts (Scientists) say it grants immunity - I agree

Politicians are not EXPERTS, they're the one's deciding on the lock down. Deciding to lock people down and controlling the spread of infectious disease is way out of the scope of what your standard doctor is an expert in. Infectious disease experts and virologists are entirely conflicted on whether the lock down will actually be effective at all. My argument isn't even about whether or not it's effective, it's about there being more to consider than just stopping the spread of the disease at all costs. The fact that you can't wrap your mind around that really does discount everything else you have to say.

Doctors are not experts in controlling the spread of infectious disease. The lock down is a political decision.disagreeing with a political decision doesn't mean you're disagreeing with experts.

Again, this is probably where you should be watching press conferences if you’re going to be making these long posts trying to explain to everybody what’s going on. You need the most current information.

President Trump has made it very clear that his initial reaction was to drop/not institute the lockdowns. And it was only due to Dr. Fauci‘s input that he decided to keep the lockdown in place through the end of April.

Watch the press conferences. You will learn a few things.

It’s just obvious that you don’t have a full view of the big picture. You have a little bits and pieces right from podcasts etc. But not the full view.

My opinion on the lock down is that there is more to consider than stopping the spread of the disease. It's a major factor, just like making sure the economy doesn't collapse is a major factor. All things have to be considered in deciding the next steps.

They suspect it is. Theyve found it in air samples. As in samples of air of the same room as infected patients and even in the hallway outside of their rooms.

They just cant officially call it because they havent had enough time to really replicate it and do a true study.

the decision to lockdown however is based on the recommendations of medical experts, you can't really separate the two. Fauci also himself stated that the country needs to be on national lockdown.

Most likely it would because that applies to most other viruses. They just cant say officially because they have a vary high standard to meet to say so for sure and there hasnt been enough time yet to run studies.

My opinion - its unrealistic for us to just maintain the entire global economy shutdown for them to run 6 month studies on this, on vaccines and tests and everything else.

How many are you willing to sacrifice?

If you have 1 ventilator and can treat 1 person with it for 1 month then you can treat 12 persons per year.

When all 12 come now you can treat 1 and 11 die.

It's spreading out the burden on hospitals/healthcare system. Hence all the discussion over having enough ventilators etc.

Plus just having enough beds, doctors etc! You been to a hospital and had to wait an hour for the doctor? Hospitals were ALREADY BUSY AS CHIT.

Even if you don't worry about getting this virus, worry about having to go to the hospital for any of the regular, boring ass reasons any of us might have to go to the ER on a regular day. Now imagine you can't get the help you'd need.
Smooth Seas don't make Strong Sailors. Keep your head up.

The mortality rates seem to be around 10x the regular flu (though we won't know for sure until the antibody test it's definitely factors higher than regular flu though), hospitals are over run with people needing respiratory support as the virus is aggressively attacking the lungs, many are left with perminant lung damage . Everyone working in a hospital right now almost world wide knows the severity of Covid-19, we should not lock down for anywhere near 5 months as the economic loss will cause more suffering and deaths than Covid-19. A month or so whilst hospitals increase their capacity will help reduce unnecessary deaths (people who cannot get respiratory support because of over-run hospitals). I think it's also important to mention even though the mortality rates are fairly low, those that survive often still have a horrible time and feel like they are dying.

Even if you don't worry about getting this virus, worry about having to go to the hospital for any of the regular, boring ass reasons any of us might have to go to the ER on a regular day. Now imagine you can't get the help you'd need.
Yes it spreads it out in the meantime. But what happens when daily life resumes in may/June or whenever it does happen? Are we not gonna see a massive surge and a round two of this?

We will until a vaccine is widely administered or until ~70% of the population becomes infected, whichever comes first.

The other alternative is widespread and aggressive testing, but it's doubtful we could implement something like that in the US over the next month.
