Not in those pics, but are you doubting that women were happier when they had ONE role to fill instead of the multi-roles that they're required to fill today through "women's empowerment" movements?

Because I gotta tell you, my life seems a lot harder than my mom and grandma's life.

I'm not sure what that has to do with overworked and happiness. Sure, choices are good, but also complicate life.

Wut? O_o

Where-ever did you get that I'm not a traditional housewife? I absolutely am. My house is clean and orderly. My husband's clothes are ironed and ready for work. When he walks through the door, a hot meal is ready and waiting at the table for him and I fulfill all other wifely duties.

Everything else that I do is extracurricular. My job, helping with bills (if needed), personal development etc. Keeping house with one other person doesn't require enough of my time to be busy all day. At the time where our family expands and I feel overwhelmed, my extracurricular activities will go away.

My priority role is just one, not multiple.

In comparison to other women who try to fill both masculine and feminine roles, I'd say I'm much happier. It's not just speculation, it's statistics. I'm too lazy to pull up the stats though so meh.

HALT! I'm not talking about taking away a choice. You brought that up. And I certainly didn't bring up the "O" word missy. Stay focused. Read my posts again. I said doing ONE role is healthier and happier for most people. Related (kinda) there was a study about multi-tasking. Studies showed that people who focus on one specialty perform better, have better results, are more confident and happier than those people who multi-task. Why? Because the latter is half-assing things in order to accomplish more than they're capable of doing.

Ah, I see where the confusion is. I've only been married 3 years. Prior to that, I was required to fill both masculine and feminine roles in order to survive. It's not fun and didn't make me happy. And I'm a pretty resilient person. If I didn't like it, I question any woman who says she's happy doing everything. I'm skeptical.

Men aren't asking to do a woman's job. Lol. Are you crazy? Most men are asking that the woman fulfills her role as a supporting figure while he, the man of the house, fulfills his obligation to the family as the "hunter/gatherer."

Who's talking about taking away mens' paternal rights? O_O

Cuz feminists told her it was a bad thing and that women need to 'self actualize'.

If a woman wants a career, go for it, but society flipped on it's head by trying to convince women that it was the best choice instead of just another option. Now you got women working hard and mad that they have to sacrifice either work or child rearing time when most of them would have been happy doing the old school traditional role. but nope, everyone told to grow up and go to college and get a good job and anyone trying to get her to grow up to be a good homemaker is "oppressing her".

The domestic court systems are horribly skewed against men. It's certainly something they should fight for, regardless of whether or not they are the primary housekeepers in their households.

Are you saying you regret being at home for your kids? That it was so horrible that you don't advocate for moms to do that? Not putting words in your mouth, just trying to understand your stance.

Also, how do you feel about modern day feminist movement? Do you believe it infringes on the rights of men?

Right.

I get both sides of the argument .

If I remember correctly there was a study that showed a decline in womens happiness over time since they were given "equal" rights. Whats the issue? Most want to do whatever men want to do at the same time they want to have a traditional household which you cannot have if you are working. At the same time they look at the traditional housewife as something below them.
From my observation most housewives are very happy as long as the man is doing his part. A lot of the working women are stressed and want to be a wife but don't want to give up their job so they end up unhappy. This is my observation.

You have to be either or, can't be both and be good at it.

a lot of women actually want to be a housewife. especially in asia. for most women in asia it's their dream to find a man who can provide income and they can support and be a housewife. but they never really have feminist movements over there. so things just the natural way of life.

i had a very hardworking vietnamese coworker in her 50's, knew her for years, she wanted to be a housewife. she actually retired at 54 last year, said **** it lol. she told me "all i ever wanted to do is take care of my family and the house." i think because of social norm here she started working.

Lawl. Western Muslim feminists are the absolute worst. Their heads would explode. Even though the Qur'an says the exact opposite to what they try to advocate.

most reasonable response itt so far. my mum was a housewife so i will never look at it as being something easy or not admirable. but the fact that a lot of men just naturally looked down on women and patronised women (like in the op) did play a huge part to the whole feminist movement. i could see a much better relationship between the sexes if men actually respected women and valued a housewife's work. women have always valued a man's work but the sentiment wasn't reciprocated.

ya even in africa housewives are a thing. places with less feminism have better relationships. my friend is from cameroon, he got married last year to a young girl, and she's gonna be a housewife over there, while my friend is working here. he just sends her money. and they are happy. they never even met in person until the wedding lol. well they were childhood neighbours. idk what happened in the states that ****ed females... but the women's march did screw things over in other places of the world.

my big brother is in the same situation as your friend. like i said i think being a housewife is great, just less of the patronising "you are below me" talk from men and more of the "we're equally valued" talk and all will be good.

i have no problem with women who want to study and work, like myself. when feminism became about abandoning all traits of femininity that's when it became an issue

Look with the whole pandemic and economic shut down I’m glad that we are dual income and either one of us could support the whole family on our own if the other has a career set back. This strengthens us as a family.

But in addition being respected and successful professionally is a huge facet of my life and adds to our relationship, and as the kids get older increasingly important for modelling success, and filling the parts where I’m no longer needed.

Those Ads are sarcastic if you ask me. Most of us have already said we don't want our women to be objects.

As for your dual income comment, we probably wouldn't need dual income if women didn't enter the upper tier workforce. There's some statistics pointing to stagnant wages due to women aka more labor. This isn't a woman hate thread, if it was we'd be something along the lines of Muslim

I will admit that households were stable before the government got involved. Its a sad dark truth that some of us don't want to admit. We had no choice but to look out for each other because of the ****ty circumstances so the family unit was very strong.
But I will take what we have now over ending up like Emmitt Till. (rest in peace)

Oh I get why you’d want that, goddamit I do too

Look with the whole pandemic and economic shut down I’m glad that we are dual income and either one of us could support the whole family on our own if the other has a career set back. This strengthens us as a family.

But in addition being respected and successful professionally is a huge facet of my life and adds to our relationship, and as the kids get older increasingly important for modelling success, and filling the parts where I’m no longer needed.

Going to the movies is not a full life and I fukking hate shopping
Look at which ads I quoted. I even specifically stated "I don't want my wife literally at my heels, but I'll be damned if they weren't onto something back then."I DO NOT agree that they are supposed to be as slaves, I was born in fukking 1988, so I do have a way more modern stance on the topic.

YOU want to be respected professionally. Many women just want a great life raising kids at home. And your job isn't adding to your relationship, it's adding to your wallet.

EVEN YOU AND I don't agree on what makes a full life. To me, a full life is being able to comfortably provide for my family and make sure all their needs are met, while being well off financially so that we can go have fun whenever we want. I want my son to grow into a more successful man and overall better person than I could ever be. THAT is what fulfills me.

Replace shopping and movies with whatever you want, it doesn't matter. My point was that housewives are not chained to their fukking stoves, and are fully capable of pursuing whatever they want to do!

Muzziechik goes to school BECAUSE SHE FUKKING WANTS TO. she isn't her husband's slave. She's allowed to be happy. It's like you and other feminists equate an extremely important family role with misery and slavery.

110% agree
