Soccer is the biggest sport in the world (far bigger than American Football), but for instance, you don't hear much about the South African Soccer league or the A-League in Australia...You see the Premier League or La Liga or UAFA or whatever.

It's far more complicated in the UK for example, where Soccer is the biggest sport and sports like Rugby league and Union has big followings regionally (think baseball in certain parts of the US).

Rugby Union has only recently become a "professionalized" sport, it was for most of its history a sport played in amateurism while retaining a huge following.

Lots of sports exist like this globally, see Gaelic football in Ireland, which is a huge sport there, but played mostly by amateurs.

Again - America isn't the center of the world.

ITT people who don't understand athleticism vs genetic niche.

Simply the more rules you emplace upon a sport, the more genetics are going to come into it. NFL has very niche positions where that position has one job. Everything about that position is shaped to achieve that purpose and nothing else. That coupled with the extra money, resources, drugs and overall USA culture of BIGGER STRONGER FASTER you are going to have these guys who are incentivised to display 'freakish' feats of athleticism.

Rugby positions on the other hand are less niche and many players can be relied upon to switch between. The most disparity you are going to see is generally between fronts and backs. Fronts being bigger heavier guys and backs being smaller and faster (as a general rule).

Neither is a better than the other, just more fit for that specific purpose.

Mario Williams ran I believe a 4.7 40 yard dash, he's like 6'7", nearly 300 Lbs.

For a little perspective the fastest guy I ever met ran a 4.4 40 yard dash, he was like 5'6", 145.

Williams literally weighs twice as much, a foot taller, while only running three tenths of a second slower.

Or to relate to his peers, Williams runs almost as fast as guys who weigh 80-100 Lbs. less than him.

Fat lot of good a 40 yard fukn dash will do in rugby.

Meanwhile your kunt is wiped out after the first end to end play. Average player is 200 - 300lbs in rugby.

I agree its not about which sport its better, these terms you have used unfairly bias the discussion.

American's don't usually win the strongman, the 100M dash, the marathon...the most specialized of sports.

You can't be a fast-twitch mass monster in rugby because you have to run for 80 mins.

Guy has size and speed, dummy.

He's faster than almost every guy on a rugby field while weighing 80+ more he'd be swatting Timmys like flies.

Maybe this will put thing into perspective for you Timmy:

America will NEVER care about soccer as long as we have access to real sports. Doesn't change the fact that most of the best athletes in the world are from the US.

This thread is easy to understand:

Americans: Our sports dictate who real athletes are

The world: Americans aren't good at soccer

Americans: A D3 athlete would destroy a soccer player

The world: A D3 athlete can't run for 90 mins non stop

Americans: We earn more money, we are the best, we can't be beaten

The world: American footballs aren't in the top 10 sports globally

Americans: We earn more money, we are the best, we can't be beaten

The world: but you let a bunch of liberal cucks take over your cities

Americans: fkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

You were saying?
OK but guys that size and speed are dime a dozen in NFL.

I'm sure the guy you mentioned has some ***gy nickname like "Godzilla" or some **** because he's the only one, or one of a select few.

In the NFL Haloti Ngati is roughly the size of your average nose tackles, maybe a little bit bigger.

Then you can even get into big power backs in the NFL back in the day like:

Christian Okoye
Mike Alstott
Jamal Lewis
Jerome Bettis

I doubt any one guy in rugby would consistently be able to bring those guys down.

The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

Plenty of large players in Rugby, but you can't run, tackle and scrum for 80 mins straight and be that size.
