That also comes with genetics. Maybe not the charisma and social stuff.

Training natty over 30 is a waste of time
You can get as jacked as possible, but still lose out to a dorky looking dude who's 6ft
Diet is much more important unless you have an inhuman metabolism
You don't have to lift super heavy to look like you lift
A 5 day bro split is a waste, if it takes you a week to recover one muscle group, see a doctor
You can squat and deadlift heavy and still look like crap if you don't do any accessory work.
Probably 90% of fitness dudes on YT and insta have great genetics/gear

I think the Calories one, while it seems so simple and obvious, is an extra important one. Its easy for noobs to get brainwashed, by a lot of the BS advice out there, into thinking they should be consuming way more calories than they really need - and then end up unintentionally bloatmaxing.

-Compound lifts > everything else -Wrong - Stimulus to fatigue on many heavy compounds are worse than machines on the net balance. Which is why many people can bench big but still have smaller chest than guys doing more volumes on machines because they can do more because of machines -not saying compounds are bad, just equal on the net balance.
-Genetics > Diet/training -Also wrong - Very few people have genetics so bad / good that they can mess around on diet and training. You are looking at the top and bottom 5% and thinking it applies to the other 90% in the middle.
-Diet > Training - Overload (training) is required, surplus in diet is also required, sleep to recover is also required. They are equal. You cant outtrain a bad diet or outdiet a non overloading programme unless you are a rank beginner
-Most natural lifters only need 2,500-3,000 cals/day -Very dependent on your size and training age.
-Youtube fitness is full of idiots and liars -agreed. There are some good guys (revive stronger, juggernaut, westside, Greg Nukhols ect)
-15% bf is the healthiest for men -also very subjective - anywhere between 11-17% is probably optimal for nutrient partitioning
-Lifting can’t compensate for an ugly face or short height - It can. If aything especially then you need to make up for your ugly face or being a manlet. 0 Chance of me pulling the women I did if I was a twink or fat.
-poor cardio leads to an early death -False - Most of the people who lived over 100 said they were very inactive for most of their lives. Hearts are machines, they only can manage so many repititions before they break down. This can be made better or worse through diet (lack of fibre, high carcinogens, bad collesterol and blood pressure), lifestyle like smoking, high stress jobs.
-most supplements are useless -Agreed. Anything beyond protein, creatine and vitamin C or D if you dont eat right or get sun.

Agree with all but the bold. Since turning 30 3 years ago I've gone from 170-190# @ similar BF levels, strength has gone up significantly across the board and I'm just as if not more athletic than 3 years ago.

And height cope is just that, cope. If you are losing out on girls it's not because of your height, it's because you lack confidence and use your height as an excuse. Some of the biggest slayers I've ever known have been manlets (IRL manlets, not just Misc standards) but the one thing they all had in common was an abundance of confidence.

Bulking/Cutting is great to do once or twice as a beginner, but tbh once you hit your natural genetic limit it's waaaaay too much effort for little results.

I bulked from 180 to about 197, then cut. From there bulked to 210 and am now back to 195.

Almost all the lifting gains I got from 195 to 210 were lost when I went from 210 to 195, so yep basically spun wheels lol though Coronavirus closing gyms also was a big factor in this.

Agree with all of this.

When I came to this site, I thought bulk/cut was dead. I was in shock that people were still doing it. After all this time, I'm still amazed. I guess I need to start BulkCut.com.

- If you start fat, you should cut. If you're skinny, you should bulk
- You should continually work to increase/get better at compound lifts
- Genetics for body composition, but for personal health, diet is 90% of lifting and looking good.
- Agree on the cals
- Youtube/Instagram is largely crap
- Healthiest BF% would be like 10-13%, however the initial goal should be getting to 15% body fat.
- Lifting won't help height/looks, but will largely impact your personal psyche and discipline, which can overcome your genetic setbacks.
- 150 minutes of cardio a week. This equates to 25 minutes 6 days a week. Lift for one hour, and then cardio for 25 minutes.
- Most supplements are completely useless. However, Creatine is a must, and a few more you can mix and match.

Mind blown at the amount of mental gymnastics Miscrs ITT are doing to avoid cardio. You don't have to run a marathon, hop on that treadmill for 15 - 30 minutes FFS.

genetics also are a huge limiter, and different body types are good/bad at different lifts or types of fitness.

I'm 6'3 with naturally small wrists. 'Ectomorph' as a term might be full of **** but all things considered thats me - long limbs, small bones, more difficult and less areas to put on muscle. So a bench press is naturally difficult - took me 18 months of serious lifting to get to 225 on it, which was lost during covid. This is with regular training, diet on point, ample protein, etc.

Meanwhile some guys can get there in 3 months eating fruit loops.

What surprised me when I began to lift to gain weight was that less working out meant more results for me. Rest is important for growth basically.

I found being out in the sun helpful too. I made most of my gains during the sunnier months.

It doesn’t matter what rep range you do or what exercises really, just that you go consistently for long periods of time, progress in the amount of weight lifted and lift with high intensity, and eat enough protein to feed your muscles.

Deloading for 1-2 weeks at a time every few months is huge for gains. Most people are afraid they’ll lose their gains but when you try it you’ll see the insane results

Define 'bulking'.

Eating at a slight caloric surplus is essential if we're talking about optimal muscle growth.

How else do you expect to grow?

The thing about bulking is even if you get a little bit extra muscle, it isnt worth it to constantly be stuffing your face with food, to be ****ting 6x a day, to be making protein shakes morning/night, when your friends want to grab a drink or have a party to have to eat immediately before and maybe after all to feel bloated and out of breath as you try to pack on pounds.

Disagree 100% that no one cares irl that you lift. How I am treated by society at large is night and day. That said, the benefits you get for lifting mostly come in the first 1-2 years. When you're no long fat or rail thin, are able to fill out a shirt, have a nice chest and arms, etc. is what gets you the most attention

I went for too hot of a take with the first one, but I generally meant that towards 30+ guys who are just spinning their wheels at the gym and making no progress. I don't think I look great by any means but at least I made progress. I see guys in the gym for the past 3 years doing the same workouts, looking exactly the same, but spending hours in there and tons of money on bcaa and preworkout and junk. They are wasting their time.
