I actually found it opposite

seasons 1-5 were very consistent in their formula, and exactly how you described the 15 episode season. very little dedicated to the overarching story.

But after that stretch is when I feel like it started focusing primarily on the overarching story, with only a few of the random monster hunting episodes sprinkled here and there. I will say though, there's a couple seasons that were very meh to me, i think 11-12 or somewhere around those.

But it's one of my favorite shows. Would highly recommend if you're alright with a healthy amount of emotional venting scenes

Yea, I'd agree.I appreciate the later seasons mainly for the "monster of the week" episodes, because they are more rare, and generally the best episodes.

Swan Song would have been the perfect finale, but I've enjoyed having it around all these years.

Lots of monster of the week. Every episode has at least a small tie-in to the main story. Every few episodes you get a stronger tie in or a fully dedicated episode. Always building toward a solid mid-season or season finale. Great formula.

The show's greatness, among many reasons, was cemented by the fact that they pulled off an actually fun crossover with fukking animated Scooby Doo and it somehow didn't feel like they jumped the shark.

Yeah supernatural seasons 1-4 were some damn good fkn tv.

After season 5 the show went to chit and I stopped watching it. Vampire diaries for the first 3-4 seasons was pretty good too, but that went to chit as well. That's what happens when you make 23 episodes per season, lot of filler, lot of unecessary chit and they just drag stuff on for no reason.

I like the Jody character but to think her and the Yas Kween Posse could actually carry a show, even on a network and world in general overrun by SJW fukkery, is comical. I'm surprised that someone at the CW had the brains/balls to say nope to that.

First 5 seasons were the best but there are lots of good plotlines later on. No filler episodes in this show. You either have one that advances the central plot, or a cool monster of the week episode. It's just like the X-files and was made by a lot of the same people.

All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. Seasons 1-5 were great.

About as scary and you could get on normal tv. Great depiction of Angels and Lucifer. I imagine if Angels were real they would be dicks who were so powerful and crazy looking they melted your face off.

Slowly got really bad after that. Classic case of them having told their story but continued on anyways.

Watched a few episodes from the first 2 seasons. I always thought it was a show for girls, but it's actually not bad. I will say that it can get a bit repetitive and predictable at times. But yeah it's pretty enjoyable

First 5 seasons are really some of the best TV ever made, Eric Kripke had a good run with it. After that it was never as strong, but the characters themselves are fun to watch so it's never too bad even at its worst. I heard The Boys on Amazon is also pretty good, and that's another Kripke show.

It's the one show that managed to keep elevating its story each and every season.

Season 1: The brothers were young hunters, demons were a huge challenge for them
Season 2: Gets taken to the next level with Sam infected with demon blood for psychic powers
Season 3: Demons becoming more familiar and actually working with one and Dean sent to hell
Season 4: Castiel introduced pulling Dean out of hell
Season 5: Sam and Dean are vessels for Lucifer and Michael in a nice brother vs. brother twist as we start to see how important Dean and Sam really are to everything
Season 6: Sam loses his soul
Season 7: Alright the Leviathans was a sh*t tier season, I'll admit this one
Season 8: Sam and Dean trying to close hell going toe to toe with Crowley but in the end Angels fall from heaven
Season 9: Castiel loses his grace and angels turn on him; Angels basically have a civil war; Dean gets the mark of Cain
Season 10: Dean turns into a demon and has to be cured; The Darkness is released at the end to finally rid Dean of the mark of Cain
Season 11: Amara is a whole new next level kind of hell, as the level of enemy continues to ramp up higher every season. Chuck is revealed as God
Season 12: Sam and Dean get their mother back, the loss of which forced them all into this life in the first place; Lucifer creates an all powerful Nephilim
Season 13: Alternative worlds becomes a thing and Dean says yes to Michael
Season 14: God becomes a dick and kills Jack
Season 15: ??? Sam and Dean are confronted with the be all end all of challenges. Stop God

Doesn't get much better heightening the stakes than that boyos. Supernatural is a true masterpiece. Stay mad

Anyone who thinks it "got bad" after season 5 likely made it to the Leviathan season (which was season 7) quit there and never bothered to return to it.

There was literally 1 bad season in 14 years so far. That's the truth.

Strong replies ITT, misc you delivered

You either love it for life or you don't, but everyone should give it a fair shake of at least the first handful of episodes to get a feel, there's no other series that ran near as long while putting out solid content consistently.

They better not reboot it, the female cast isn't talented enough to pull it off, Jensen and Jared(Dean & Sam) either need to do a dedicated 2 hour movie or let it die.

Low key hoping they do some kind of video game even if it's basic

Ultimately we know this as the truth, there's really only 1 or 2 seasons I felt didn't deliver STRONG but are still passable because they advance the cosmic plot.

Every time someone "hates" the show I find out they stopped watching it, big mistake boyos.

There's nothing else that delves into world wide mythological lore with an undertone of horror like this, it's vast.

On top of all of it, beyondGodhimself, there's an underlying message for those that provoke deep thinking:

Dean Winchester was the point of the whole story, his soul is a Martyr meant to carry burdens greater than you can imagine. His entire existence is ripped apart over and over and represents the true strength of humanity, the ultimate creation.
