Derp the CNN and Cuomo told me to wear a mask, Derp, U ignant if you don't wear one, derp, U must be a MAGA person, derp

Another good study that does NOT support wearing a mask...Here's the punchline, but you have to read the whole thing and not just the abstract:
Among the samples collected without a face mask, we found that the majority of participants with influenza virus and coronavirus infection did not shed detectable virus in respiratory droplets or aerosols, whereas for rhinovirus we detected virus in aerosols in 19 of 34 (56%) participants (compared to 4 of 10 (40%) for coronavirus and 8 of 23 (35%) for influenza). For those who did shed virus in respiratory droplets and aerosols, viral load in both tended to be low (Fig. 1).
Wait..... what?

The majority of confirmed coronavirus infections without a face mask did not shed detectable virus in respiratory droplets or aerosols? And for those who did, the minority, there was very little virus present?

Oh, it gets better.
The major limitation of our study was the large proportion of participants with undetectable viral shedding in exhaled breath for each of the viruses studied. We could have increased the sampling duration beyond 30 min to increase the viral shedding being captured, at the cost of acceptability in some participants.
So over a space of 30 minutes they were unable to capture any viral shedding in a large proportion of participants with confirmed, known infections?

Excuse me?

Indeed they go on to explain that perhaps forced coughing might have helped.

Wait..... forced coughing?

So the issue, as is explained in the study, is that non-coughing or sneezing people are by and large not shedding virus in their ordinary breath. If they're coughing, well, then the game's different. That's not unexpected; someone who is actively sick is, well, actively sick.

And shedding virus.

But many coronavirus infections are not symptomatic for cough. And among those actively sick but not coughing they had great difficulty in finding virus expelled under lab conditions with extremely sensitive equipment even though all of the people they studied were actively sick as every one of them had a fever.

There goes the theory of asymptomatic shedding of infectious virus out one's mouth or nose, the entire premise on which the "MaskHole" nonsense is predicated.

Remember that this is a laboratory study with laboratory confirmed infectious cases and fever. The participants are deliberately breathing into a device that captures all of their breath (not some random, tiny fraction you would inhale from someone in your vicinity.) In other words if there's virus in that breath they're going to find it because they're capturing and examining all of it. You, on the other hand, are taking a very tiny random sample of the airspace that was formerly in the other person's lungs. A bit of quick back-of-the-envelope calculation given the roughly half-liter volume in an average breath compared with the airspace around a human being between you and another human being shows quite quickly that only a very tiny fraction of whatever I exhale you will inhale.

So we now have two correlations that don't match, not one.

First, the virus is not responding to the inverse of absolute humidity which all airborne and droplet-transmitted virus diseases we have studied do, and is why we have a flu and cold season.

Second, an attempt to collect in a laboratory samples comprising 100% of the exhaled breath from febrile and laboratory confirmed persons failed to find any virus in a huge percentage of said participants absent an active cough or sneeze. Obviously if there's nothing there then there's nothing for a mask to trap.

That's two correlations which should be both present and neither one is.

If you maintain the fiction that asymptomatic, airborne or droplet spread of Covid-19 is the primary or even material means of transmission and thus any mitigation should be aimed there you are not a scientist of any sort. You are a political hack as your theorem has been disproved by not just one missing correlation, but two.

Totally untrue. Look at the current positive test rates for NY and NJ. They got completely overwhelmed by the initial wave of illness... and now literally nobody gets sick.

LOL @ your reading comprehension. Read it again. "Our results indicate that surgical face masks could prevent transmission of human coronaviruses and influenza viruses fromsymptomatic individuals."

IE: Coughing. Duh. Now read what I wrote. So because folks who are SYMPTOMATIC, COUGHING, COULD spread the virus, means that the other 99% of healthy, non-symptomatic people need to be FORCED to wear masks 24/7, LOL @ your stupidity.

It's just a safety measure. Are businesses supposed to monitor every single person that comes in for symptoms? Or would it be much easier and cost-effective to just mandate masks for everyone, symptomatic or not?
If stores made temperature and symptom checks mandatory, I'm sure there'd be a thread on here complaining about the "surveillance state". Mfs just want to complain lmfao.
And where are you going where you need to wear a mask 24/7? AFAIK, nobody is making you wear a mask inside your home or car.

Mental gymnastics of peace and prosperity.

You are not a smart person with most likely a low income so this will be brief. If you are going to MANDATE that a citizen do something, with the threat of JAIL (in some states) for not doing it, the onus is on THE STATE for showing just cause to FORCE you to do it, IE: hard science/proof/evidence in support of argument. They do not have this evidence because it does not exist.

I just think it's the irony of it all. If he thought masks were just "hype", he probably just figured COVID was like a regular flu.

LMFAO @ you
1) The fact that it "could" prevent the spread of COVID is enough. You're acting like "could" is the same thing as "doesn't". Or would you rather states shut down again, like California?
2) See: Walmart, CVS, Target.
3) Yeah, good luck policing that.
4) Sure, except for the places that require it...oh wait, let's refer to all the adult-children throwing tantrums at having to wear masks.
5) Ok.
6) Ok.
7) Refer to the abstract of the study you posted. Again, let me reiterate something to you: saying a mask "could" prevent the spread of COVID is not the same as saying that they don't prevent it.

Man, you really are something. Must take you a good minute to read your McD's order out loud, huh?

Oh, and answer my original question:

Would it be easier for businesses to individually check symptoms of each and every patron, or would it be a lot easier and cost-effective to just make masks mandatory?

But this kind of article is very dangerous. It has no explanation for how he actually contracted covid. He could have gotten in a million different ways. They are implying going out in public without a mask was the only way.

I hope you see the lack of logic in that argument.

Would it be easier for businesses to individually check symptoms of each and every patron, or would it be a lot easier and cost-effective to just make masks mandatory?
That's a dumb question because it's impossible to answer. It depends on the business first of all, obviously.

A business just needs to purchase a temperature scanner to check customers. It's super cheap as well. You really aren't the smartest guy around, srs.

You do realize they'll have to pay an employee just to stand outside all day to check their temperatures, right? Includingevery single patron who wants to come shop at the store.

Or, just let everyone come in but wear a mask.

I wonder which one is the more practical and cost-effective solution. lmfao at your room temperature IQ

US is not the only 1st world country that opened back up, we are the only one doing so bad.

Wrong. There are such things as stationary temperature machines. I use one every day. It's a very cheap device that can check someones temperature in less than 5 seconds you idiot.

But this kind of article is very dangerous. It has no explanation for how he actually contracted covid. He could have gotten in a million different ways. They are implying going out in public without a mask was the only way.

I hope you see the lack of logic in that argument.
He was hanging out in crowded pools and looks like he never used a mask wherever he went.

There's a difference between you using one as an employee and making your patrons/customer use one. Again, who is going to enforce the temperature check? Someone has to stand there to make sure each person gets checked and to turn away customers with high temperatures.

Dumb ass.

EDIT: and you completely disregard the practicality of it. Why would a business buy a standing temperature machine (which is not cheap, by the way) when they can just make patrons wear their own masks instead? Not only does it save the business money, but it's much more practical for everybody.

Lmao. I am a customer who uses one. At my gym, they purchased a temperature scanner machine every one must use at entry. You are just ignorant and I destroyed your argument of how "masks are more cost effective" just fkn lol.
