I feel like before we realized what we actually were (Monkeys jacking off) we saw ourselves as these grand mystical beings and the awe and inspiration of human fortitude and survival.
But now it’s just like, well yeah, our DNA is programmed to Survive and reproduce against all odds so what?
And so that turmoil is now reframed as that’s all it is, meaningless turmoil, while in the past we glorified it due to the mystique of the human mind.
But in modern context it’s just a sick horror story

In her biography, it says she was taught kitchen and house duties by her maid, such as kneading dough, but that she didnt think Helen would ever be able to speak. How do you go from not being able to speak to being able to grasp onto a language and speak so eloquently? Feral children cant do it. They never have been able to because its imprinted in our shared biology.
Maybe I'm wrong and it was a miracle like the movie said, but it just seems like nonsense. She must have been only partially deafblind and it got worse as she reach puberty.

In her darkness she had more brain power than even those who could see.

I admit I didn’t know any of these other circumstances surrounding her life when I made my posts. All I knew was what I remembered being told as a kid, that she was born blind and deaf, and was eventually taught how to read and write a high level.
My posts were essentially just responding to what I thought was the notion that there’s no way to teach language skills to someone who is blind and deaf.
After reading TBO’s posts, maybe there is something more to her story than was recorded.

She wasn't born blind and deaf, I think that's critical because she was just old enough (almost two) to see the world and somewhat grasp language. She learned through braille. She must have been smart. The "she lived in the dark" was more a metaphor, she was still interacting with people. Now obviously all that said, it's very obvious Anne Sullivan (and actually her extreme leftist husband) shaped Keller's world view.

The big question, And most questionable to me, is that she was engaged to a man by the name of Peter ***an, But she somehow left him, In the middle of the night, with her bags packed.
Ignoring the fact that a deaf blind woman will even leave her man, with packed bags in the middle of the night.
How would she even know what an engagement was, or how to give a dome job, or even what a meat thermometer was for that matter?

I grew up in Alabama, where she is from, so I heard the story of Hellen Keller my whole life. The first time I ever questioned it was when I stumbled on an article about language development and feral children. The deeper you dig into this one the stranger it gets. The book she supposedly wrote at 11, the Frost King, was plagiarized from another story called the Frost Fairies that Keller had never read but her teacher had.

I think you can't fathom the possibility someone can be that intelligent. Terry Tao mastered calculus at age 7. AGE 7. Some people are just smarter than you.
