The biggest mistake misc did imo was to make subsections of this forum ie gaming , religion, relationship, etc


It split the traffic and makes the forum seem dead.

ESPN used to have some good boards way back that were shut down. The scout.com message board communtiy was massive for college sports as well. But now dead.


What's sad is as everything migrated to Reddit the reddit culture has taken over. For some reason if I go on a subreddit dedicated to the St Louis Cardinals, rock climbing, Batman, The Wire, etc. youll see the same jokes, political beliefs, etc. It's almost like talking to one nerd with 100,000 accounts

if you like quality off-topic discussion, politics, gaming, etc... Neogaf and Resetera have a huge, thriving community. Easily my favorite forums to post/lurk.
