More people at 30 tend to focus on hammering down the middle of their career, and will spend more time with family. They put less priority on the gym because they've got other stuff going on.
Thing is, I know plenty of people who let themselves go a bit, realized, and said "Time to make a change" after they were well past 30. People care, but it's not about what they're lifting, etc. After 30, it's about being in decent shape and/or being healthy.
I'd say if you're in stellar shape prior to 30, you're going to want to take that with you into 30. Only gymcels care about lifting totals, and once you hit a certain number in your totals, the general public seems to have the same reaction of "Wow that's heavy."

Maybe when you’re 70 years old and in a nursing home and days away from your death looking good won’t matter

I'd say that it is more important after 30. For health and slaying reasons.

Everyone should be doing weight resistance exercises, no matter age. Don't need to be a gymcel for it to help you later in life. It's great for bone density. I always recommend it to women for this reason. Too bad they don't listen to me. I will be the old granny in a nursing home still lifting my pink dumbbells.
I spend approx 4-5 hours a week lifting and maybe 2-3 of cardio (30 min walks), out of 168 hours in a week. Don't see how that's so time consuming. What are people who don't exercise doing with that time? Sitting on their asses stuffing their faces. Yeah, that's really healthy.

But once you have been training for over 2 decades its not really to impress other people anymore... its a staple in your daily life... And im way more into impressing myself these days more than anything... after all I am my own worst critic
