If that group of people needed fertile land near running water, they have to work with whoever runs that land. You can't just kill them and take the land. Thats not how things work. Word gets around to other nations that a certain group of people are savages. That is how groups of armies like the United Nations come about(that said, the US will be kicked out soon, lmao)

Natives (Saying this as a Tribal Citizen) were conquered. The end. The US should have also conquered everything else north of Columbia while they were at it. Europeans have also been here for a couple thousand years and probably much longer and had they never came America would still be in the stone age.

Natives weren't a unified force. They inhabited a vast land and were tribalistic like any other human groups and fought over that vast land. Other people came to the country and did the same. The land was settled, human disputes occurred like they have throughout history, and a country was founded. That's literally it.

I’m curious why everyone’s goto response is to simply acknowledge how conquering was done back then, in a seeming “that was the way it was so it is not a problem at all” type mentality.

Obviously OPs suggestion of “giving it back” is absurd, and the whole “you are incriminating yourself” is cringe AF.

I’m curious however, if you guys understand that despite “that is how it was done” and the results of it, it was an absolutely despicable series of events and that type of human behavior should be perceived only as terrible and shameful.

I sincerely believe we can be in love with our country, and acknowledge the flaws or “dark secrets of our past” (of which there are many). In fact, I would suggest failing to acknowledge our historical flaws (for whatever reason), prevents us from wholly loving our country. I don’t mean a self loathing type of “we should just give it back and rot”. More like, hey let’s not ever do this terrible thing again, or tolerate anyone doing it. We are better than that. We did benefit from it, but we should not celebrate it.

it's because they try to confine it to a certain demographic. their (people like op) point is that whites (europeans in op's example) did it to indians

they are not saying the act is despicable or that the act itself is unjust. i would agree with that, though it may be necessary sometimes. however, they (people like op), are saying that whites did the atrocities to X and deserve retribution

so the counter to that is that every color has had injustices against them

Absolutely not. You are talking to a 2 star general here. I am not dumb.

The amount of resources the Americans have conjured up from this stolen land(currently still taking resources), is EXACTLY why you guys are currently one of the world superpowers. Without taking this land from the natives, the American'ts would still be in Europe right waddling in their small territory. You guys would not be relevant at all.

In the timeline of humanity, 200 years is nothing, which is the current age of the States. So just because its been 200 years, doesn't mean it gets passed off just like that. Because guess what, again, yall are still benefiting from THIS LAND.
