The NIST guy explained it as "a new type of structural failure due to thermal expansion", and the only time this phenomenon decided to ever show up was in NYC on 9/11, it just gets even stupider.

Trivial additional points: the design was an interior tube (core) and an exterior tube. The floors acted as lightweight bracing between the inner and outer tube. The three elements worked together to hold up the building. When the top floors failed near the impact they fell and quickly overloaded the floors below, pancaking straight down, then the un-braced exterior tube peeled away, then most of the core collapsed or toppled. So some parts collapsed inwards, some outwards.

Building 7 had structural elements similar to bridge construction, and like the towers, compromising the bracing compromised the entire structure.

Overall the towers were 1970's value engineered garbage, just strong enough to hold themselves up and not much more. That both buildings collapsed proves what crap they were.

They wtc was on fire and expected it to fall. I don't see this as a conspiracy, and I am pretty goddamn conspiracy minded.
