Disagreed. When everyone gets back low, reps significantly lose power. The reasons reps are so inflated now are:

1. People bought reps.
2. Mod reps/admin reps were significantly higher than users in those days.

My first few years on this site, my reps barely increased. It only increased with mod reps and the huge boom in users we had in the Golden Era. This place is a fuking ghost town now.

That sounds great on paper, but the consequences would be insanely annoying.

The rep traders would absolutely flood this forum with rep-beg threads in a desperate attempt to get a starting bump.

It's a compounding issue, it's unfair for you to just choose the weakest part of my argument and say ha, gotcha. Ghost town aside, the major reason I stated for your reps is because of all the inflation and how many people have insanely high reps. If everyone was cut down to like 100 reps, it would take FOREVER to gain. You would have to be repped 10 times to even add 1 point. Again, I was here in the earlies when people had almost nothing. Gains were incredibly slow and would have remained that way if not for admins/mods.

You're a newer join date. I was around when there was a CHIT ton more users with little reps. Did rep begging exist, yes. Did it flood the forum? Absolutely not. In fact bro, it was a huge incentive for people to actually post good/lulzy content. Now, everyone has so much (especially since you could buy them) that reps became way less meaningful and we have absolutely trash content now.

In a lot of ways I totally agree. We would be forced to get to know each other instead of having reps to make it easy to assume who is cool and who is a tard.
