Just don't do it for high reps. Did it with a set of 20 and never again.
Yeah, chalk seems to be the biggest recommendation here. Lol @ 20 reps with hook grip

Was being semi-satirical; largely in response to the postulations I've heard on here like "if you can't lift it without straps you can't lift it" etc.

What’s your S/B/D?

OP. If you don’t PL then work up double overhand without straps then use them when needed. Do SLDL etc without straps, and some or all of your rows etc without them. Or directly train your grip occasionally.

If you powerlift then sort it out or accept the risk of underhand.

As for tips for hook grip I can’t help. I have a joint in my thumbs that doesn’t bend so I can’t do it. Try taping your thumb maybe. Should be some good stuff on YouTube.

Are you competing in powerlifting?

If not why tf would you limit yourself due to grip because of some unspoken code of straps being lame?

Seems pretty defeatest to me.

I don't fuk with that mix grip **** anymore, gave me uneven lat development.

Eddie, Brian Shaw and Thor all used straps for their WR's

Yeah probably just gonna use straps. Was always led to believe deadlifts with straps don’t count which is why I always used them for rep work and never set PRs with them

No I don’t compete...starting to feel like only people who compete should use mixed grip and deal with the risks
