Can't imagine going to a third world country for humanitarian purposes to get gunned down.

I was in a club area for party tourists with friends. A lot of the locals understandably hated always having drunks walk around, so they were pretty angry many just hung out waiting for reasons to mess up lone tourists.

But yeah, overall it was harmless like the other places mentioned as well.

I've been to Nigeria and Mexico but not sure if it would count since never been to the dangerous areas.

It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven."

This lovely city. It's on the do not travel list lol
1.1 million people crammed into 24sq/miles. Wife has family down there and we stayed for one week during election week in 2018. Fully armored federal police driving around with 50 cal full auto machine guns mounted to trucks were seen all the time.

As someone stated, Baltimore. Took an Uber into dinner and the power plant from the hotel with my manlet friend. Driver told us don’t walk home or you’ll get robbed. We did anyway cuz I wanted to stop for pizza and some urban youths did approach us but they were friendly so I gave em a couple bucks.

Mt Katahdin in Maine. The final 1500' rise in elevation was almost straight up on loosely packed stone. Trip up wasn't bad, but going back when you're looking down all 1500' and knowing any of the rocks could shift or slip when planted your foot...fuk that was scary.

I went to a party in a favela in Rio de Janiero until 1-2 AM. Never felt overly dangerous, but it was an interesting scene with like 300 people in the street with a bunch of trannies and hookers and 2AM on a weekday.

I stayed in an area of Bogota(La Candelaria) that got kinda sketchy at night. The people at my hostel said it was somewhat common for people to be robbed on the street in the area, so don't bring too much cash. Also Santa Marta in Colombia was also pretty sketchy at night if you weren't in a taxi.

I used to work in Detroit, and there were tons of times I was walking around drunk in sketchy rundown areas at random times and never had any issues whatsoever. Detroit is mainly gang violence, but outside of the gangs it's just poor and not particularly dangerous(at least within a couple miles of downtown).

Uber was a godsend for traveling to places perceived as dangerous, so I'm really hoping this COVID chit doesn't make them scale back their worldwide operations.

I dunno, it's wise to be cautious because white people are typically easy targets for being ripped off, but I've gotten myself into some really random situations abroad and was never really in that much danger. Most of these situations capitalize on fear, so it you can act cool it's rare that you'll get into some chitty situation that you can't get out of.

I've done a lot of travelling but never really internationally dangerous (I've been in some real hoods around America). I lived in Israel for a year and drove all around the West Bank and got pretty close to Gaza (like where the Gazans shoot their rockets into Israel), but living there and knowing the culture I never felt unsafe driving around the West Bank (mainly stayed in Israeli settlement areas or touristy areas).

That’s probably a good thing. Even westernized African countries can get dangerous quick. Niger is one of the most dangerous on the continent and not at all westernized.
I just googled Niger and the first thing I saw was 8 dead in gun attack including 6 French aid workers.

Yikes.
