Roommate crew. Saving loads of money. I think it only makes sense if you have your own separate bathroom and you only live with 1 person. Couldn't imagine more than a 2 person household

Not reading all the garbage posts in this thread and I'm sure someone has been intelligent enough to state that getting a roommate means jack shiiet if you don't get along with them /avoid them. Much better to have a piece of mind, ft your loved ones, surf the web than hurdy huuur, " get a roommate!". Most humans have to socialize at work , and that is sufficient enough if you prefer not to have a roommate. Its complete isolation that is a death sentence and its nearly impossible to experience that unless imprisoned.

i'm not sure if living with someone would end a relationship that would otherwise be fine or if it simply accelerates the inevitable outcome

Yes, I definitely want my own bathroom. In a previous chat about having a misc oldcels I was thinking more like co-housing. You have your own space and then shared common areas. Roughly equivalent to a double bed hotel room w/bath and kitchenette.

This is why I thought to post this on misc. Well, this + potential isolation this fall/winter. A lot of people are on an indefinite/maybe permanent WFH situation now. Stuff is more open than it was, but still kind of limited and (at least here) we are still being advised not to meet up with groups of people in person.

Also, the cure for isolation isn't necessarily cohabitation.

Though I think cohabitation is proposed because so many live either alone, or shut in a room with a PC and lead unhealthy lives for years on end.

It's hard to conflate the two because people still can socialize via other mediums while still living alone. Within this society, most singles still have sex while living alone.

Eh, maybe.

As long as we are walking around in these animal bodies I don't think you can discount our animal-type needs.

Tom brings up that people are doing a lot of remote type socialization and asks if that makes up for the physical distance of being under lock down. The scientist points out that teens now use things like social media, texting, and video chat all the time, but also report feeling higher levels of loneliness and isolation.

Maybe your animal self needs the comfort of physical presence.

Yep. If it comes up I've though about preferring to have my own space. This post is more about current circumstances vs. normal life.

when my one buddy went through his divorce, i told him he could sleep on my couch forever for $0 if he wanted to

never came to that, but it wouldn't have been a problem

If you already live with family or an SO you are probably good. It is living totally alone that is generally bad for you and specifically high risk right now.

- are more violent when reunited
