I wonder who came up with the idea of invading Russia, that was Germany’s biggest mistake of the war. If they stayed allied with the Russians, Germany could have won.

I agree. Even the Ruskies talked about how the American Studebaker trucks we shipped to them during the lend-lease act changed the game for them from a logistical standpoint.

They were a war torn, poverty stricken nation at the end of World War One, then in less than twenty years, they were one step away from total global domination.

Hitler did. He stayed up all night and the next morning showed a bunch of his generals his plans. They were all shocked at how overly ambitious and risky it was. Hitler was probably high on pervitin (German meth) and had that insane hyper confidence that strong stimulants are known to give you. It’s why he was still so confident even at their very end in that bunker in Berlin. He was on a cocktail of drugs and his quack doctor Theodore Morelle kept him addicted.

And a lot of people say Hitler was correct in that the Soviet Union was gonna break their peace treaty anyways and he wanted to strike first so he did. They even say if he hadn’t delayed Barbarossa by as short as 5 weeks, it could have made all the difference.

greatest armed forces ever lbs for lbs but spread itself too thin. Even American generals at the time said that was the reason for their downfall. If the US never was involved it woulda been aufweidesehn.

Strong how? Their military was superb, largely due to excellent training methods and a robust military tradition.

Their economy was superficially good but fragile and lopsided.

They bit off more than they could chew and from ~1942 onwards the end result was inevitable. Was impressive to hold off USSR, USA and to a lesser extent Britain for the next few years though.

It is what it it is soyo. The US is basically modern day colonization of the natives. The US have tooken the land and resources and waged war on other countries. Again, the american bloodline have proven that it should not be allowed to have a standing military.

It will take the entire east continent to dismantle the us military because the resources are so vast.

Germany was way more civilized than Japan.

The rape of Nanking, Unit 731, and the way Japan treated POW’s was unparalleled.

Well they managed to defeat and occupy Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Yugoslavia, Greece, Monaco, Egypt, French Tunisia, Finland, Albania, and Channel Islands for a couple of years. And they pushed Great Britain to the breaking point; and they invaded vast swaths of Soviet Union, and they managed to terrorize shipping in the Atlantic with their U-boats.

Well france had the most powerful army in the world in 1939 and this was the common consensus among all countries and they lost and record breaking time.

When churchhill got the news that france was defeated his exact words were " how did corporal hitler do in 3 weeks that kiser willhelm could not do on 4 years"

Im guessing they were pretty powerful. The german army should never have to take the shame of being xalled nazis though cause they were not. It wss against the law in germany to belong tk any politcal system. Not saying there were no individuals who did not consider themselves nazis or agreed with thier principles but the over whelming amount were not.

Thats like saying the united states army and its soldiers and marines and sailors/airmen in the vietnam war were all Republicans

This. At start of WW2 France's forces were the biggest in the world. They had 3 or 4 times the amount of armour/tanks that Germany had.
But like in WW1 they were led by donkeys. They could have rolled their armour up in the first week of invasion and pretty much stopped the entire German forces....but they chose to retreat and be defensive elsewhere.

Theres a heap on YT - but the most recent high quality ones are on Netflix e.g. Greatest WWII Events in Colour (edit: and WW2 in Colour
Also on Foxtel theres a series called : WWII - The Complete History - havent finsihed yet.)
Season 1 / Ep 1: Describes how "Germany attacked France with an inferior army......."
Chit I didnt even realise that the Germans had a largely horse driven attacking force at the start of WW2!!! I always thought that Germanys superior tanks sliced through Europe like butter - but apparently not.
