It seems like the primary use to me is more of a fitness tracker/health monitor with some extra phone related functions than a “smart watch”.

1) can see who is calling me when I’m butchering meat so I don’t have to rush to wash hands / dry to stick hands in pocket, just to see it was a telemarketer.

2) I actually leave my phone places like car/restaurant office a lot now and can answer calls, even textImg works out fine with the drawing feature. I get a lot of quick yes/no, do this etc phone calls during the day.

3) have had phone die and used my texted shopping list off watch to check what I needed at store before

4). Keeps track of my distance swam, how many yards indoor or miles outdoors.

5) use it to stream music to headphones while running etc..

6) the feature where it sends out SOS if you go unconscious is good for bike rides, or skiing out of bounds. Knew sO one who got hit by a car on his bike and it called for help for him (it was a hit and run)

7) easier to look at messages while not being rude in a setting where phones should be off/silent

8) helps me work on cadence and check speed/distance while running

That’s about it

I have one because I'm smart.

If I wasn't a smart person why would I have a smart phone?
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

I got one for free with my MacBook. Barely ever use it. I bought an attachment so that I can take the straps off and instead clip it to my work uniform. So basically I use this watch just to calculate patient respiratory rates lol

Whole lot of things I use it for.
This. I never envisioned buying one but my kids bought me one for Christmas and it's grown on me. I can see messages and emails (part of) without taking my phone out of my pocket. My watch also unlocks my MacBook Pro when I open the lid and I'm wearing the watch (and the watch is unlocked). I find it handy.

iPads have their place. I use mine for flying as a backup flight navigation device and as a source of aviation charts/maps (I run the ForeFlight app). Just because you have no use for an iPad doesn't mean they're pointless. Not everyone has the same needs/wants as you.

I purchased one, I think it might be a series 3. I personally love not having to be glued to my phone.

Things I appreciate about it
-Have a two story house, can leave phone downstairs and answer calls on it while upstairs.
-Can see when ring doorbell motion goes off at any time.
-Can be hands free while pushing stroller.
-Tracks fitness.
-I use the calendar with pop up reminders all the time.
-Actually use it for the time.
-Use it for weather temps.
-Receive text messages without having phone on me.

not worth what they charge for it, but I like mine. things that don't involve fitness tracking:

1) voice activated timer/alarm set is super handy when cooking.
2) morning alarm with a gentle vibration on my wrist is so much better than a blaring phone
3) easy to use timer for sets/stretching
4) phone calls and texts on your wrist - easy to discretely check during a meeting
5) control music when running/working out
6) sleep monitoring
7) can use as a spy camera with your phone
8) Apply pay
9) weather on home screen

EDIT: oh and another huge one is I know when I get a phone call. I don't have a landline, so my phone isn't always by me when I'm at home, but I always know when someone is calling cause I always have the watch on. I also, I can control the thermostat with voice commands into my watch which is pretty baller.

I love my apple watch, i still use apple watch series 2 and for one main reason. For some reason i am obsessed with closing the circles so it definitely keeps me active. I had Galaxy watch when i had my note 9 and i barely wore it because without the circles i did not care if i reached the steps goal. With apple watch there have been few times where i went out for a walk at 10pm w my dog to make sure i close thecircle.

Its also nice to see texts you get without having to pull your phone out. Often times ill reply with a smily face on my watch if i am in the middle of somethign to acknowladge that i received a text or ill use text to speech on the watch to reply which is fairly accurate and convinient. Like textss its nice to see when i get an email and i can see if its important enough to check it right away. Also i am in the middle of selling some things on ebay and its nice to get a notification anytime someone bids on my items.

Another benefit is answering a quick call on the watch when you are by yourself. For example if i am on my computer and my phone is charging i can still easily answer my phone.

Another benefit is when i am exercising as in running or walking I can easily skip a song when listening to music on my headphones.

I would say that apple watches are much better then android watches imo... ive had 3 different android watches and either they are uncomfterblle or i just end up not using them. With apple watch i make sure to have it on so that all the exercise counts toward closing those circles lol.

#2 would be convenient for me. I oversleep through my alarms and was gonna buy one of those electric shock alarm watches, lmao.

and #5, music while I run is perfect. Don’t have to use that bicep armband to carry my phone.

if you want music without your phone, you'd need the cellar version of it. although there may be a way to download playlists to the watch, I've just never tried.

Also - it never gets old putting your watch to your face and asking "Who won the Panthers game" and installing knowing the score.

I thought they were kind of dumb when I first got one, because I never really liked having a watch to begin with. But now that I have one, I can't stop wearing it. I use it for work mostly when I get notifications for emails or messages for work. I can just look at my watch, see it, and then answer it if I need to. Otherwise I'd have to pull my phone out and get distracted. I use it for working out too to see where I'm at and how I'm doing. I then also use it for music when I don't want my phone since I have a load of stuff downloaded to it. It's just really convenient to have and to wear. I don't think I'd go out and buy a new one, but when I first got it as a gift I couldn't stop using it and my quality of life got a bit better.

It's just one more piece of tech to constantly bug you with notifications and charge on the daily. Should sell it for the cash to invest with.

It works better for people that are busy, not losers that live with their parents and play video games all day. I'm an Android user and I used to have a smartwatch. It did come in handy many times. My wife has an iPhone and iWatch and IMO, the iwatch is much better. The quality, software, and hardware is superb compared to Android Wear. Google needs to get their chit together.

Yay!!!

I can continue to receive the same dopamine releasing light and noise stimulation that has has been forced down my throat since birth because who wants to just be?

Consumerism.

Yeah, but I like mine.

Because dopamine.

received one as a gift

only like it for health monitoring but its usefulness I have found out to be only using my jog/ bike rides app, using GPS & reading text messages

Shazam on the fly is nice

other than that just a digital watch

I quit wearing watches decades ago, but my heart specialist recommended I get a watch that could monitor heart rate because of my atrial fibrillation.
I’m already in the Apple eco system,so I thought stay with Apple , as it all integrates nicely.
Freeking cool having cellular capability on your wrist at times too .

I’m looking at the Apple Ultra as an upgrade to my series 4 . Crazy how they managed to get that much technology in it imo
