I get what those people are saying, but those statements further exemplify human arrogance. To say white Europeans 'stole' land is to imply that the land belonged to someone in the first place. It didn't. That land was there way before the first nations people began inhabiting it. Conquest is part of the human condition. A stronger tribe comes around and claims the land. Nothing was stolen. It was just claimed in the name of France and England.

But it did belong to someone, the Natives. If it didn't, why don't the US just go into the Middle East today and claim the land as theirs? Because you guys were met with less resistance. The whites had metal plating technology while the Natives had bows and arrows.

Conquest is part of the human condition, I agree. But that doesn't mean you can do it. Because at the end of the day, in the context of how the US uses conquest, it is considered stealing and pillaging. If you used conquest in the context of fighting an enemy who did you wrong, thats the correct use.

Lets say you have a stronger "tribe". You and your tribe decide to one day just conquer my house and the land that I use to farm. Does that make it ok? If you think thats ok, then its ok when other nations decide to wage war against you because your way of life is disrupting everyone elses.
