check amazon. I had an electric rat trap. Put bait, plug in, let rat get zapped, and easy disposal.

I use the black boxes with poison at the end
Rats are tricky and a PITA because you have to make sure every opening is well closed off. 1/4" hardware cloth on any holes because rats can't fit through a hole that small. Poison the fukkers and keep an eye on your dog for the time you use it just don't let him near a dead rat and he will be fine
