A job he took landed him in the south and he was MIND BLOWN at how nice people were. On major holidays where people party and throw big house shindigs, this one night he was just walking around whatever city he was ion for the first time and people would just invite him in to party with them and out drank them all. He was like "This would never happen in Soviet Russia. Too poor. Get robbed. Beaten." And there would be russian words and phrases peppered in there

I went to dinner with a russian coworker once. He pulled out his own bottle of vodka and proceeded to drink the entire thing throughout the course of the meal without saying a word about it.

Mind blown how people are actually celebrating that behavior and think it’s cool. These are adults lmao. Reminds me of like a 16 year olds bday party when no one knows the effects of alcohol. I think even a total alcoholic would be destroyed by that

I don't think it's cool, but there is something to be said for guys living with absolutely 0 fukks to give about tomorrow, just going as hard as they can doing whatever the fukk they want in that moment. What they give up in physical health, they gain in complete lack of anxiety or existential depression.

Their wodka is made from potato, while wodka in the West is made from grains (srs)

That's a tiny factor but the biggest factor is that they build up so much resistance to alcohol over there by drinkin large amounts every single day. To escape the crippling depression of ther reality. Yes, its sad. But that is how it is. It's like progressive overload and it's a real thing
