I went to dinner with a russian coworker once. He pulled out his own bottle of vodka and proceeded to drink the entire thing throughout the course of the meal without saying a word about it.

That's a tiny factor but the biggest factor is that they build up so much resistance to alcohol over there by drinkin large amounts every single day. To escape the crippling depression of ther reality. Yes, its sad. But that is how it is. It's like progressive overload and it's a real thing
