I grind the sh*t out of my teeth. I used to wake up with a sore jaw on many occasions. Luckily, having done Invisalign, my reinforced retainer help combat the teeth grind and keep my teef straight. Downside is, I have to get a replacement retainer every 6 month because I just grind them to the nub.

Do NOT get a boil and bite nightguard from CVS etc
Get a custom fitted one from your dentist, it might cost like $300 but worth
I got permanent TMJ dysfunction from a boil and bite nightguard, I can't chew gum or give good oral anymore otherwise my jaw gets all tense and I get headaches and ****
also magnesium isn't going to help you, just get the custom nightguard and forget about it.

as the others have posted get a mouth guard from your dentist. you can get like $10-20 ones from Amazon that you put in hot water and mold yourself but I looked into those and some people say they are not good because they can actually move your teeth so its best to get a custom one from your dentist.
This is caused by some kind of stress in your body. Not always the stress we assume as "stress". in the end its a small sign your body is saying something is wrong, and to fix me. look into some diaphragmatic breathing to reset your nervous system. 90-90 hip shift is a good one.
