yeah but masks have been used for ages in hospitals, clinics, schools, military, etc to try and prevent spread of airborne disease in large groups long before corona virus existed. So you're saying this entire time, it's all been a myth and masks have absolutely no effect whatsoever? why did it take this long to discover that if this is the case?

There is a very big difference between clinical situations in confined spaces with sick people, with properly fitted n95 masks, and then normal people in loose fitting cloth masks who DON'T share spaces for extended periods of time.

Because they work in sterile needed environments or with patients that are immuno-compromised. These guidelines are based on preventing BACTERIAL (which is living) transference.

Please tell me you aren't this stupid.

Also, there is a reason we have never worn masks en masse before. We don't need to. It does absolutely nothing but make people feel like they are safe or making people safe. There is a reason why mask wearers are still getting sick, and half the mask wearers at my work are still getting colds. Why aren't I? "But but but it's to keep others safe!" If you believe that then congratulations, you're a retard.

There's a reason we have never worn masks en masse before, especially in day to day life.

Masks go hand in hand with social distancing, capacity limits, etc. It also creates fear which minimizes people going to places they normally would. This is common sense. Most businesses rely heavily on cash flow. Even cutting that in half will destroy most business.

I stated in my original post the mask is just the most visible example of the power the government has to take away freedoms. It extends beyond the masks, the whole thing is ridiculous.

You also got off track and mentioned health regulations in your post so I was responding to that - capacity constraints, social distancing etc are clearly examples of health regulations

Someone else can cherry pick studies to the contrary man. It's not impressive. What you should be posting is, before and after mask mandate transmission data.

Btw your first study has this in it's conclusion:However, as with hand hygiene, face masks might be able to reduce the transmission of other infections and therefore have value in an influenza pandemic when healthcare resources are stretched.

OP riddle me this. The govt mandates you have to wear a mask when you go outside, and social distance. But they say it's completely safe to take it off when you are at home (in theory infecting your entire family, assuming we take your position). And then they also say it's completely safe to wear one as long as you are rioting.

How do you interpret this?

Thankfully Mexicans in the barrio hate white people, so they refuse to wear masks just because the white man tells them to.

Your niece is a child which inherently trusts and follows the commands of their parents who are supposed to know what is best for them. The government is not your guardian, and it certainly is not always correct or virtuous.

Passing and enforcing legislation which compels individuals to take some form of treatment in order to protect others, when said method is not perfect and debatable, is anti-individualism and anti-American. If you are scared of covid, wear an N95 mask. If you are scared of the flu, get a vaccine. Don't force others to abide by your ideology, you're free to do whatever you want to yourself and even self-segregate.

Also want to mention it's perfectly fine to take off your mask in California to eat at a full table of patrons. But as soon as you walk off you have to put it back on.

Why isn't the government forcing people to wear masks when they are at home with their families?

It's the riddle of the ages.

It’s not really about whether masks are effective or not

The data shows the survival rate is extremely high unless you are 70 plus

We make decisions everyday and weigh the risks - whenever you get into a car you accept the possibility you could get into an accident and die - it’s a slippery slope when the government starts infringing on your freedom to make your own decisions

Now the argument to this is - I am being selfish and putting those who are vulnerable at risk by not taking necessary precautions and my answer to that is if you are a vulnerable subset of the population you should make your own decisions and take precautions as you see fit - those who are young and healthy should be able to live life however they want

Let's be honest, no one can answer my question. Why isn't the government, forcing families to wear masks at home. Liberals get stumped by this 1 question.

Why is the government forcing restaurants and bars to shut down at 11pm?- I forgot the virus is only contagious after 11pm

1) they don't work as studies and Fauci himself have stated
2) people are being fined and arrested for not wearing a mask. Where are the laws that have gone through Congress requiring masks? Complete abuse of power bordering on tyranny
3) "but they require clothes bro" is pretty invalid. All you need to do is cover your lewd parts. Why are we against the Taliban in Afghanistan forcing women to wear burqas? It's just an outfit bro

Well, here's the daily cases in France after the mask mandate. Not that it matters, because the reality is the amount of cases are only rising because they're increasing the amount of testing.

You can feel free to believe whatever you want, but the decision to use masks in the general public is NOT based on science.

Anti maskers are nothing but people who see how ridiculous wearing a mask is given the survival rate of the virus.

Plus I don’t like wearing the mask, it’s annoying, gross uncomfortable etc - come at me

It wasn't rebellious to not wear a mask for 28 years of my life, but because some fat phucks in power and a 3 letter organization say so, now we're rebels for not being a retarded?

If a guy in a lab coat from the cdc tells you to stick a dildo up your ass for public health reasons that make no logical or medical sense, would you do it? If you say no, THEN OMG YOU'RE such a rebel!

You're such a rebel wearing a sport brah in public.

It's funny how all the pro maskers don't actually know anything about the subject though, they just saw it on their version of CNN and FEEL that it's right.
