If you do that your windshield will break almost instantly from the temperature change.
OP just get remote start. Start it 5 min before you leave. Profit. Takes like 20 seconds to get the rest off by that time.

In Northern IL, if you throw boiling water on a windshield you either get instant snow when it is too cold, or the hot water melts the ice and then immediately refreezes on your windshield in a opaque film.

I'm the piece of **** that leaves my car covered in snow and just stick my head out the window
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Lol if you live somewhere where you can even find your car after a significant snowfall.
best is coming home in winter after being away for a few weeks and having snow past the mirrors, and are basically unable to see the car.
At that point I just take the snowmobile and wait till I feel ambitious to dig the car out.

Around here, the poor people stick a big piece of cardboard under their wipers to keep the snow/frost off their windshield. The rich people stick a poor person on their windshield for the same purpose.
