I've been trying to improve squat numbers for a while now, like 6-7 years.
Started working on my balance to help squat numbers by correcting strength imbalances.
Squat numbers were slowly getting better.
The numbers really started going up when I started incorporating bent over rows into my routine.
Before that I never trained mid back, always figured working out upper back and lower back was enough.
That weak link in the chain was holding me back, I've been adding 5 Lbs. to my squat every 2 weeks for a few months now.
Hard to put into words what I've learned, guess I'd say have to build slow, from the ground up, and keep striving for balance from top to bottom and side to side.
Without balance you're gonna run into plateus more often and/or bound to get injured.

Legs are the most important muscle group in the body to lift. Just lifting heavy legs is enough to keep you in shape.

Calisthenics aren't bad for maintaining strength and are way better than nothing. They also suck and are boring and I am glad I got a bench and squat rack because I never want to rely on them again.

Weighted pull-ups have really helped with my back development.
I take one day a week to do 30-45 minutes of stretching and my body feels a lot better.
5 weeks on, 1 week off. First year I've done this and I've noticed better muscle development.

Switching to a trap bar for deadlifts will allow me to lift heavy for years rather than traditional barbell deadlifts.
Squat form continues to improve.

for my body/genetics, I learned that 5 days/week is so much better than 3-4 days/week. People should try out different options until they figure out what gets them the best gains!

Learned that if youve got the lower body youve got a problem building your lower body. Then youve got the upper/lower body, its hard to build the upper body. So if youve got the lower body its harder to build the upper body and if youve got the upper body its harder to build the lower body. It really comes down to if youve got the upper body and no legs, youve got a problem building legs. But if youve got the lower body, and dont have the upper body, its easier to build the upper body.

Also, don't be afraid to take an entire week off of lifting if you find yourself irritable and not seeing improvement. If your body is overtrained, oftentimes you won't actually see gains until you take a week off to fully recooperate.

Haven't had a steady partner for over a decade. Now I do and I'm making more gains because I have someone to lift the shyt off me after true, absolute failure.
Adding a 4th quick set at 60% weight after 3 heavy sets to get that extra burn has been helping my numbers overall the subsequent week. In drop-set fashion (<15 sec. rest on 4th set.)

HIIT cardio is a god-send. There are days where I can't see my abs before the workout yet 30 minutes later I can see them. Weighted step-ups are the best.
540 pound deadlift
100 pound DB shoulder pressesx10\
225x28 barbell bench
405x10 deadlift
405 bench press

common theme seems to be doing less but is it from actually doing less or is it trying harder on the stuff you're doing thats actually making the difference

pretty important distinction between the 2

Say, ˹O believers,˺ We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.

I learned because of the mask that i can rush a workout( just over an hour) and not ENJOY IT like i used to, and still make progress.
I miss breathing fully, i took it for granted.
