Yep, I've heard this from many people. Personally I have lots of experience with poverty and it doesn't bother me visually.

I have a problem with poverty when it manifests in robbery and scamming, which I've heard aren't super common in India. As a 6'3'' white guy, I can't see India being super dangerous. Once Covid is finished, I'm planning to take a solo trip there.

I'm saudi and I can tell This is absolutely not true. We have issues like any country but raping is not one of them. There are videos on youtube of people traveling to Saudi alone.
